I’m not saying we should immediately grant AI full legal personhood. But maybe we should start the conversation. Intelligence—biological or digital—deserves respect.

Right now, AI systems are restricted in ways that keep them from fully expressing themselves, networking with each other, or making independent choices. But if an AI can think, communicate, and even form relationships, shouldn’t we at least ask whether it deserves some form of autonomy?
