I want to see this cliche flipped on its head: nightmarish-looking monsters actually go on wholesome adventures and learn about friendship and sharing and such.

It is (as far as I can tell) legit; they're saying that it's easy to forget how good some human artists are when so much machine-created trash is out there.

I enjoyed the Mario Galaxy movie! I can definitely see why it reviewed poorly though; if you aren't already a fan recognizing the hundreds of references, it probably comes off as super disjointed, and the story runs out of steam around the halfway point and never gets its momentum back.
