The Schmidt Science Fellows program is an initiative of Schmidt Sciences, delivered in partnership with the Rhodes Trust.
Thomas will shift his research focus from biophysics to quantum simulation. Quantum simulators have great potential but are difficult to study. Thomas is developing a gentle method to gain insights into quantum systems and enable new advances in quantum simulation.

The fellowship program supports top young researchers as they transition to a new field of study after completing their PhD.
The conference is organized by PhD students of the MSc/PhD Molecular Biology Program – International Max Planck Research School @uni-goettingen.de.

On Sep 10, a career fair will take place featuring guests from industry and other non-academic sectors, including workshops on key soft skills for PhD students and postdocs.

Maurer is considered a pioneer in the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence methods in theoretical chemistry. The approaches he has developed are important for computer-aided materials research and can also be transferred to other fields.
