"Formation" should've been a standalone single

LEMONADE should've ended with "All Night Long"

It was sweet! But half a second before they started singing I just felt in my bones that they might sing "You Oughta Know" because it's become such a trope (I think! Of course I can't recall where else this has occurred other than in the movie BOOK SMART but I really feel like it is!)

I'm the problem, it's me

It's especially hard because it's one of those songs that begins on the lyric (no instrumental kick-off/intro), so you'd better hope you're in the right key, *on top* of the tempo

Maybe I'm lucky enough to frequent karaoke spots where the people know better!

The thing is, whenever I see it in a narrative (from what I recall), it's never set in Canada!

I do karaoke pretty regularly (about once a month) and the number of times I've heard someone perform "You Oughta Know" is nowhere near as high as the number of times I've watched a fictional TV or movie character sing it during a karaoke scene

Nearly every week, a NYT crossword clue answer is "afro."

I'm just going to keep saying this until I'm blue in the face: OPEN THE GODDAMN SCHOOLS (WITH EMPHASIS ON HISTORY AND MEDIA LITERACY)!!!!

'Beef' is less rare in Season 2, but still well done The hit Netflix series brings in a new cast that includes Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan, and even more beef.

BEEF's novelty wears off in S2, in part b/c it's now less about the soul-sucking effects of clinging to rage than it is about how capitalism corrupts -- a point Hollywood's been hammering for some time now, to mixed results.

S2 still has its moments, though. My review:

Unless we learn the glove was possessed by the soul of Bill "Bojangles" Robinson, there is nothing in that movie that should be considered a spoiler by any stretch of the imagination lol

Lena Gรณra (left) and Charli XCX (right) laugh together in a club while bathed in yellow light in a still from Pete Ohsโ€™ great new film ERUPCJA.

ERUPCJA: The best of the growing number of Charli XCX movies thus far is technically her first and is also the best film yet from filmmaker Pete Ohs. It's a poetic, playful, and profound work that itself feels like a work of collaborative musical combustion ๐Ÿ“ฝ๏ธ

"Bickering"? I read that interview they gave and it sounds like they were having the exact kind of healthy, low-key banter happy couples have. ๐Ÿค”

The reason this canโ€™t be your jumping off point is due to the sheer number of red flags you had to overlook to get here

Of course, ty for writing this! Fandom misreading was a recurring theme in my book. I wish I could be surprised, but I've spent too much time on the internet and in the spaces where these conversations are happening. Soon as I noticed how they were reframing Robbie this season, I saw it coming. ๐Ÿซ

Yes yes, spot on spot on.

Open the schools!!!!!! (And don't cut funding for media courses!!!)

Agree! I'm less surprised by the morality of it given his Diddy comments than I am by the ego of it -- again, not sure why he would want to put himself on the same artistic tier as CB! He can't possibly need the money at this point (or maybe he does)

1 week ago 4 0 0 0

Oh yeah, I've noticed that too. It seems like he's long overdue for his next legal fuckup, though lol ๐Ÿซ

Right, I'm sure some of CB's fans are younger. But it's not like Usher's been hiding under a rock. He's done Tiny Desk and Super Bowl in the last 5 years. If he doesn't have that audience yet, I'm doubtful touring with CB will move the needle much, and doesn't seem worth the reputation damage.

Anywho, the odds of CB doing something heinous that lands him in legal trouble and prevents this tour from even happening are probably quite high. I'm sure the insurance costs on this are through the roof!

From what I've seen, their demos are more or less the same -- millennial black women and up. I'm a millennial and Usher was big when I was in 5th grade through high school, and then CB (who's a year younger than me) debuted when I was a college freshman.

The more I think about this, the more it makes zero sense. After you side-eye Usher for touring with a man who's had multiple restraining orders against him, you then have to turn to craft -- whyyyy would he ever accept that backflipping demon with the tinny voice as his equal???
