Yeah so he is just going to keep doing the thing where we are in a constant state of uncertainty, confusion, stress, and tension because that is what abusive people do and the people who are in a position to address this are asleep at the switch.
If you think this is exhausting, imagine being Iranian.
if you can call, call. if you can't, email. get 3 or 4 friends to call, too. volume matters. @5calls.org already has an updated script: 5calls.org/issue/stop-i...
i know calling your reps feels deeply unsatisfying in the face of atrocities, and you'd think their phones are already ringing off the hook, but they aren't! cannot emphasize enough how much impact a few dozen, let alone a few hundred, calls could have.
Armageddon is terrible, but our only other option was diversity trainings at work.
Remember:
You're too old to be praying on the downfall of people you don't like. You're old enough now to be directly involved yourself.
If only one of these big media companies would look Carr dead in the eye and say “fuck you, make me,” but the problem is they’re run by a bunch of cowards who have shared goals with the regime.
This is like a Vegas bookie telling you “maybe I’ll break your knee caps and leave you stranded in the desert, maybe I won’t. who’s to say! 🤷🏻♀️”
The threat is real and the point.
Still thinking about this moment today during @mattfieldwood.bsky.social’s testimony before House E&C.
In response to Carr’s manufactured attacks against diversity, equity, and inclusion, Matt notes that it seems like white men are doing just fine.
And as I said 10 years ago, #TechPolicySoWhite.
The story of how disparate and diverse communities are stepping up to deny the federal government a detention infrastructure is a big one, and it’s inspiring. 👇🏾
me: I'm really not that dramatic
also me: what if I laid down and pretended I'm dead like an overwhelmed opossum?
Thanks @democracynow.org for having me on the show today to talk about how Trump, Pete Hegseth and FCC Chairman Carr are threatening the media over coverage of their own incompetence and failures.
Expose the lies. Block the mergers. End the censorship.
Firing Brendan Carr would be a good start.
FCC Commissioner Anna M. Gomez issued the following statement in response to the FCC’s most recent threat that broadcast licenses could be revoked over coverage of the war with Iran.
We cannot give this FCC more power than it has.
Broadcasters, journalists, and the public should recognize these empty threats for what they are and fight to defend the First Amendment against any attempt to control or intimidate the press. 🧵
It says something that the Pope seems to have a better understanding of the First Amendment and the crucial role journalists play than the head of the Federal Communications Commission — who, I will remind everyone, was previously the FCC's General Counsel.
Donald Trump letting you know how the authoritarian capture of the media is going, in case you missed it. Unlike other authoritarians in places like Hungary and Poland he has no worries about advertising his authoritarian take over of the media.
Attacking and dismantling an independent media is directly out of the authoritarian playbook.
This a day after Pete Hegseth declared: “The sooner David Ellison takes over that network [CNN], the better,“ because he’s upset with the network’s coverage of the Iran war.
Trump’s touting his success reshaping the media — including via the FCC — on Truth Social today too apparently.
What a great coincidence that this image is driving around Hollywood displayed on a billboard truck right very now.
Everything is absolutely terrible, but the national nightmare that has been the NWSL off season ends today, which means I'm going to get to scream about *gestures around* in a socially appropriate space again.
So at least there's that.
So if anybody -- state attorneys general, Democratic politicians, sentient beings -- doesn't understand why Paramount Skydance's takeover of Warner Bros./CNN is a huge problem, Pete Hegseth is here to explain it to you.
Stop the propaganda. Block this merger.
Everyone knows that this "pledge" isn't voluntary. It's one of the costs of doing business before the agency. Another one is dropping your DEI policies. It's amazing he can say any of this with a straight face.
the "just asking questions" to "legitimate questions about fairness in sports" to "the state doesn't have to consider us as real people" pipeline working exactly as designed.
not this totally serious guy
who definitely isn't compromised
Sure. Why not? It's not like the FCC does literally anything other than apparently not enforce the rule this piece is about. I'm sure this has nothing to do with other functions the agency has, like overseeing satellite communications networks, that are of absolutely no interest to Bezos.
It's not surprising given *gestures around*, but instead of ensuring that the most marginalized in our country have a scrap of connectivity, FCC Chairman Carr is engaging in a racist, deeply cynical and dangerous effort to further demonize immigrants.
It's absolutely shameful.

hey quick question, what does it tell us about a technology if companies need to roll it out under the cover of rising fascism?
Bitch, we can multitask...especially when the tech is certainly going to be used to feed the 50000 alarm fire we're all dealing with. Absolute ghouls.
