I think that the elites are underestimating the power that lies in an increasing number of working class people being well educated. What could be the effects of a return to the free school movement of the 60s, with fellow citizens investing in their communities through people-centered learning?

Well it's hard to criticise these projects because these institutions often hire precariously-employed people to lead them, anyhow. Early career film critics this, young film programmers that. These institutions can get money for training but not enough to make sustainable jobs for their employees (let alone the people they are supposed to train). Surely a better way to "develop" young professionals is to... give them jobs

When you step back to look at the film curation + criticism professional field, it is very sad. When I was doing my masters course in London, this university only hired my course leader two days a week. Another course I taught on was led by someone actively training in a different professional field
