​If you enjoy psychological horror that focuses more on atmosphere and human behaviour than action, Calvaire is worth experiencing.

​This is a film that lingers in your mind, not because of what it shows, but because of what it makes you feel. It’s uncomfortable, strange, and at times hard to watch, but undeniably unique.

The performances are intense and often disturbing, adding to the film’s raw and almost surreal tone. It doesn’t hand-hold the viewer or explain everything clearly, which can be both a strength and a challenge depending on your taste.

The film follows a travelling performer who finds himself stranded in a remote area, where things quickly begin to feel off. What stands out most is the oppressive mood, bleak landscapes, eerie characters, and a constant sense that something is fundamentally wrong beneath the surface.

Calvaire is not your typical horror film. It’s a slow, unsettling descent into isolation and psychological unease. Rather than relying on jump scares or conventional thrills, it builds tension through atmosphere, silence, and deeply uncomfortable interactions.
