I should've said: Great story! I'll probably steal Matthew Barry as a source for something at some point.

Hi, Alex. The Dark Blues were in Hartford for one season in the National League, not two. Just FYI. Hartford 1876, Brooklyn 1877.

Just 10 years ago, Connecticut had four professional baseball teams, three pro hockey teams, a pro tennis tournament every year in New Haven, and a WNBA franchise at Mohegan Sun.

By next year in those four sports, we’ll be down to one pro baseball team and two pro hockey teams. And that’s it.

Is it the best shot in the history of UConn basketball? It’s either this or Scott Burrell/Tate George. And it might be this.

I’m from new HAven, I very much did not go to Yale, and I can’t imagine preferring any other kind of pizza.

Not that I think any of this discounts the theory, in general.

It may be that actually being from the city skews the whole thing.

(Also: Do you expect Yalies to pronounce it the other way?)

At one end of the sports on-screen graphics spectrum, you have Apple TV’s baseball and soccer broadcasts.

At the other end, you have this shit on Netflix right now.

Posited: The half-time “I’ll be gone” bars of Take on Me are as heavy as any heavy metal produced in the 1980s.

You, a rube, ranking the Damian Chazelle movies according to the conventional wisdom:

1. Whiplash
2. La La Land
3. First Man
4. Babylon

Me, enlightened, ranking the Damian Chazelle movies with all my refined taste:

Literally no one who is over 40, but under 50, has meaningful memories of the 1970s.

Did One of the Greatest Movies of 1976 Predict Our Broken Present? 'Network' turns 50 this year — and Paddy Chayefsky's mad-as-hell satire somehow feels more shocking, more sobering, and more timely than ever.

Yes, it did. But I can’t imagine thinking of Network as “one of the greatest movies of 1976.” I’ve said basically for forever that Network should appear more prominently in the conversation around what the greatest movie is, period. Of ever.

I think you misunderstand the Stevie Wonder story a bit.

It’s that Wonder sent Chappelle to pay Wonder’s **actual** respects to McCain. But then Chappelle said the goodbye line that you quote because **Chappelle** had issues with McCain.

What is your favorite song over 10 minutes long?

I’m disqualifying stuff without words.

But still. So hard. I mean, how do I not say “45:33?” Or “Pneuma” by Tool? Or basically any of the live versions of “In Your Eyes?” Or a dozen other things?

But. I think there’s actually a correct answer.
