I have no view on whether it would be an electorally successful platform.

But “hardball in the service of democratic norms” seems to me to be the morally correct platform for Dems.

Many parents “have no choice but to send their children to a public school.” Morse v. Frederick, 551 U.S. 393, 424 (2007) (Alito, J., concurring). Until today, this reality never meant that parents also have no choice but to accept government-chosen religious scripture that will surround their children. Stated simply, “the right of parents ‘to direct the religious upbringing of their’ children would be an empty promise if it did not follow those children into the public school classroom.” Mahmoud, 505 U.S. at 547. If schools across Texas must display this scripture, then today our court ordains that empty promise.

There is no way that the country can allow the Fifth Circuit's en banc decision allowing forced classroom presentation of the Ten Commandments to exist alongside Mahmoud.

It's laughable. And offensive.

It's discussed elsewhere, but Higginson, dissenting, got the last word — and it's good:

Whole generation got their brains pickled by the idea that politics is a process of patient triangulation and consensus-building instead of a knife fight that decides how pain, suffering, and resources are distributed throughout society

The real problem with the Democratic Party is that it doesn’t actually stand for the stuff—or people—it claims to.

Because it caters to big money.

And the result is that it doesn’t fight. Look at Schumer and Jeffries and tell me with a straight face that the problem isn’t inside the house.

If they wanted to get away with something like this they should have painted the statute brown and raped it.

If anyone saw our ball progression Saturday and doesnt see Bentancur as our best midfielder, IDK what to say. He is so calm under pressure and draws in two men on the press before turning.

Dawg, I teach 17 year olds. I constantly get asked "if I carry the flame."

Also, they do a thing where they say "neck," if you say something dumb. It implies that outside of school, you'd get slapped in the neck for it. Now they've taken to just saying "kirk." It's wild how memeified it is now

The thing is you have a Secretary of Defense who quite literally does not think germs are real, he explicitly rejects germ theory

The question to ask isn't "why did pete do (x)," it's "why did roger wicker vote to confirm a guy who literally doesn't think germs are real"

What is "remarkable," @nytnickc.bsky.social, is that it didn't even occur to you to ask, hey, why are there these mid-decade redistrictings happening in the first place? What did Trump say the goal of them were?

Kinda weird isn't it? Kinda weirder than a "Dems are hypocrites!!?!" angle?

I think we definitely need to listen to the politically homeless Log Cablin Republicans for political advice. When I think clarity of thought and vision in political strategy, it's Sarah Longwell.

‘Immediate Results’ vs. ‘The Long Game’: the U.S. and Iran Face Off

I am so sick of the @nytimes.com sanewashing Trump’s lunatic threats of massive war crimes and the destruction of Iran’s civilization as “warning them of more violence” or the “threat of attack.” The other “style” difference is that Trump is completely unreliable. www.nytimes.com/2026/04/20/u...
