what’s wild is that church I technically belonged to was always german lutheran, and growing up I didn’t clock that there was a difference from the catholicism other than “they have a pope and we don’t”

I’ve always described Lutheranism as Catholic-lite. Half the ceremonies, none of the guilt.

tbh I grew up basically in both churches:
I was baptized Lutheran, my mom is Catholic (as are *many* of my friends in NJ). not confirmed in either, though

I’d never thought I’d be on the timeline where “agreeing with the Pope” is both the rebellious *and* morally better position, yet here we are.
