One of these days I need to write a pamphlet titled "So you've unintentionally started a debate with a libertarian..."

It's 2026 and some are just now claiming to be surprised at the prevalence and power of monopsonies.
Any tips? This is in my future as I will be canceling Spectrum the moment the cheaper and better fiber provider currently trenching in my neighborhood is active.
You dodged a bullet. Trendsetting is a gateway drug to influencing and then pushing sketchy supplements and the like. Stay golden.
It just sucks so much that American economics and investment funnels families to unwalkable suburbs. So many people I know would love to live in a more walkable situation, but walkable options often means eschewing a 30 year fixed mortgage to rent while having worse public schools.
If Democrats really want back into power, their best move is to let Republicans win.
I find myself conflicted whenever I discover some celebrity I like is the offspring of some other celebrity. Part of me is genuinely like "oh good for them, their parents must be so proud" and another part of me is like "this is some god damn nepotist bullshit."
The NY Times editorializes in the headline so they can put their thumb on the scales while also smugly claiming objectivity by pointing to paragraph six or whatever of the piece. While individual writers and reporters have diverse political views, The Times as an institution is deeply conservative.
I think we can draw a few conclusions:
1. Super serum exists and is regularly administered by trainers.
2. Some percentage of the resulting super receivers turn into Green Goblins.
3. No one in the NFL knows why it happens, but the serum continues to be administered regardless.
A panel from Nausicaä where Obaba tells of how the kingdom of Eftal once prospered.
Another panel from Nausicaä where Obaba explains how the kingdom of Eftal carelessly hunted and killed ohmu out of greed.
Another panel from Nausicaä where Obaba tells of how the kingdom of Eftal was basically destroyed by this greed.
Another panel from Nausicaä where some asshole, clearly not paying attention, declares they should create a new Eftal.
I found Miyazaki's version of the Torment Nexus meme.

That’s not to suggest bigoted and/or depraved people don’t also exist in mainstream media.
That seemingly most people and especially those in mainstream media haven’t immediately recognized how anti-trans folks are using the exact same playbook used by bigots and depraved politicians for centuries to scare up support is maddening.
* Yes I know about the private equity thing and while I am not excited about that, I think having fiber is still better than having a hyperlocal cable monopoly.
The good news is that Google is trenching fiber in my neighborhood this week*. The bad news is that I just had to spend $200 this morning to replace a cable modem that completely died last night. What are the odds fiber service can reach my house within Walmart’s 30-day return window?
Raking leaves still sucks. You might be thinking "Jack, just use a leaf blower". I do use a leaf blower for regular shaped oak leaves that drop at the regular time of year. These however are *live* oak leaves and live oak leaves are little velcro-ing devils designed by Satan himself to ruin spring.
The more we colloquially blur the lines between classes for things like narrative, the harder it is to reasonably debate policy for things like safety nets.
Misidentifying classes for purposes of narrative remains a pet peeve of mine. A business located in a middle class neighborhood doesn't necessarily have middle class customers. I'd wager the Times knows that.
I happen to be the one who reported that versions was broken in the first place and am delighted to see it better supported. I wish Apple did a better job surfacing and socializing automatic versioning because it feels magical and fits with a more modern paradigm that doesn’t require manual saving.
For me it's less about one particular look (though I do love the design of Ryoko there.) I feel like older anime enjoyed a more diverse aesthetic which has since gotten more homogenous. That isn't to say all newer anime looks the same, rather that more shows seemingly follow the same boilerplate.

The NY Times really wants you to know that Trump's honest to goodness and very realistic economic promises are just as much a victim of this war as anything else.
The Giants outgoing and incoming owners.
Risk mitigation. It lets the acquiring team sit on a player available for trade while they explore their options in free agency. Someone mentioned that reputational damage might be enough to prevent bad acting -- if other teams deem you untrustworthy, then future trades would be harder to make.
I didn't say Baltimore did this in bad faith because I don't know. I am asking what's to stop another team from doing something similar in bad faith after seeing what happened here.
