Sometimes, I wonder if God *does in fact* play dice with the universe…

It’s just that there are so many dice that everything averages out to the mean.🎲

Personal Note:

It’s a real gift to find someone who precedes you who has already done the work you’re starting out in doing.

For me, that person has been Richard P. Rumelt.

If I’m lucky enough, some day soon, I’ll be able to tell the man that he’s become a Mentor.

The Logic of the Strategy should make sense to other level headed people.

To have someone believe you & trust in your strategy, there has to be a Logic, some evidence, as to how you plan to deal with the challenges you face.

Heraclitus said, “Character is Fate.”

Speak plainly.

You might gamble & take risks, but be clear about the nature of the bet.

You build trust in your long term results by having a story — a strategy, a narrative — about how your actions today fit into a plan to create a better future.

Some situations are irretrievable, and there isn’t always a clever way out.

In order to meet a challenge, you should first work to comprehend its nature.

You cannot improve a failing school system unless you have a clear idea why it is failing.

To be a Strategist you will have to keep your Actions & your Policies coherent with each other, not nullifying your efforts by having too many different initiatives or conflicting purposes.

The truth is the majority of businesses *cannot* be above average.

To be a Strategist you will need to:

• Embrace the full complexity of the challenges & opportunities you face

• Develop a sense of ‘the crux’ of the problem

• Be persistent

• Take responsibility for both external challenges & the health of your organization

• Seek to balance purpose & values
