No worries, Rory! You'd have been welcome to chime in with us! Rustival is a big one so quite normal to miss peeps sometimes! Hope to see you at the next one. ๐

No worries! I missed a few peeps in the end, which is no surprise as it's such a mammoth show! Hope we catch you next time. ๐
Thanks, Rich! It was a tough rough to getting him ready, but we managed and he was a comfortable barge there and back.
I missed quite a few people in the end, so no worries! Hopefully see you next time! ๐

That's #Rustival done this weekend! I am very much decompressing today. It was a lovely day and great to catch up with many of you, and hope to see those I missed next time!
Viktor did well, but I'd be lying if I said he wasn't a wounded soldier after! Still some stuff to fix but looked after us.
Looking forward to seeing you again, friend! ๐
Thank you, friend! It's a lovely old barge. ๐ฅฐ

Appreciation post for Viktor the Volvo 940. He's been absolutely faultless doing daily driver duties this week. Wafting in absolute comfort. The trip to Rustival is going to be a breeze. ๐ฅฐ

I get crippling anxiety waiting for such things for fear of stuff like that happening. One of the worst parts about ordering anything online. Bring back Maplin and everywhere so I don't have to shop online!! I despise buying stuff online. ๐
My other favourite was Amazon claiming they'd delivered something when it was no where to be found. Odd as I'd had several items delivered at the same time, supposedly part of the same delivery, yet suspiciously not the most valuable item... Thankfully as the driver had spoofed it, they believed me.
I remember once I had one say "Addresses inaccessible" despite the fact where I used to live was very easy to spot and easy to park in. But I was in all day. They did not even arrive. The van actually drove past if I recall...
I absolutely share your frustration! I've had this happen so many damn times... They ask you to work around them, instead of just leaving the damn parcel somewhere safe! People work and have lives, so it sucks wasting that waiting for couriers to not arrive!
The two are not mutual exclusive, trust me! ๐ The EFI on this is thankfully not really that weird for the era. Just finicky, but that's normal!
At least we're restoring some order to society by keeping this one alive. It will not be easy, but it will be worth it. ๐
So I've heard! I found out with a bit of research that Oldham had been making batteries for decades, and sadly like many old brands, is now just a brand that's been bought by some entity to be generic. But hey, this battery is still working so can't be too bad!
I haven't attended FOTU since about 2021 so I don't think we'll be there this year (it's a bit too expensive now, anyway and tends to clash with tinkering etc) but wishing you the best of luck with Genevieve! ๐ค๐ป
Thank you! I am very happy. This was definitely tested me, but I am so satisfied knowing I got to the bottom of it and feel very clued up on these cars, now!

Viktor is now officially total reliability! Was absolutely faultless on a test drive and got my partner @retrosammie.bsky.social to work today!
Now very confident this car will make it to Rustival! All the hard work has paid off, thank goodness. ๐

It works, so I can't fault it to be honest! I swear this will be a Dankpods and PKCELL situation. We have to buy exclusively Oldham batteries from now on. ๐
'Rexy' 2003 Rover 75 Connoisseur CDTI.
It was a lovely thing. I wish we'd kept it. But she's living well with the new owner I believe.
We've had quite a few in the past 5 years! I am terminally interested in British cars. ๐ We've owned a 75 diesel, Project Drive, pre-facelift. I don't mind the facelift but my partner doesn't like them. ๐
Rover 75, diesel I think and possibly facelift.
Oldham 075 class battery.
"I told 'em Oldham" absolutely caught me off guard on this battery that came with the 940. But I live for it. What a fantastic slogan. ๐

Yeah I really need to learn how to break songs down into stems. Listen to them and try to understand. When I sampled, I usually already had stems for things or could make something with how it was. I have cool sound ideas in my head, but I don't know how to get them out. Have ever since I was a kid.
But maybe when I recap my old scope, I could play my favourite songs through it and see if I learn something?
I suppose, but sometimes I don't know what I'm looking at on a scope unless it's specified by a service manual; looking for a particular wave/clock. With music, I can only visualise it in my head where it paints pictures for me. I feel it there. I'd likely not feel anything looking at a waveform.
Since 2016 I've sampled, or just pushed buttons, twisted dials until it sounds cool. It's all I know. I don't know how to read sheet, progress chords or anything. I regret not paying more attention during music class, honestly. I just want to know how I can use it somewhat properly.
I try to remember the quote from Giorgio Moroder: "Once you free your mind about a concept of music and harmony being correct, you can do whatever you want."
Which helps a bit with self doubt. But I could certainly do with learning something about music theory.
Ooh you may have a good fighting chance, then! I've got an OBD adapter that does talk to JLR stuff. No doubt the LR software is easy to find from "sources" ๐ Thankfully as a vintage tech enthusiast I've always got old laptops about for that sort of thing. Wishing you the best of luck!
Sadly my RR experience is only P38 and at a basic level. Though I know a lot of newer vehicles use CANBUS to operate windows and such, so it may be grumpy there. If you had software that would talk to it, you could then rule out if it's switch or no response from computers. I did that with an XC90.
I regularly find I fit into such a description. ๐ I make it up as I go along, which is fun but I find myself getting frustrated because I sit at a keyboard with an idea in mind, and fail to bring it entirely to life. I need to learn some music theory and better my control. I fat finger keys a lot. ๐
