Happy National Black Cat Day to those that celebrate. Or as Leo and Sir Purrsalot call it, every day that ends in "y".
...And they aren't wrong.

It builds community by showing other like-minded folks that there are safe spaces and by showing the MAGAs that they don't own this state and there's no place for hate here or anywhere. Then we prove it by pushing for progressive agendas through direct & indirect action as needed.

Pleased by the turnout at No Kings across Indiana. To some numbers like 1 person in Wanamaker, 1 person in Scottsburg, 5 people in Loogootee, & 31 people in Martinsville aren't that big of a deal. To me, a lifelong Hoosier, that has been 1 of just a handful of people at a protest before, it's huge.

Illinois is very lucky to have you, Governor Pritzker! I'm in Indiana so that says all you need to know.

It is truly eerie to read those words now.

I first saw this 5 years ago and we still owe it to them. And to ourselves, for the sake of what's left of our democracy. They would want us to speak up, speak out, and to get in the way. They never let fear or intimidation keep them from doing the right thing.

This is insane. I think about the sacrifices my grandparents' generation made to fight fascism and now it feels like we're surrounded by the kind of people who would've told the Nazis where Anne Frank was hiding. I'm livid!

Meanwhile his multiple disciplinary complaints are "free speech". Funny how that works.

Ladies and gentlemen, our IN Attorney General! And I'm sure "celebrate or rationalize" are defined rather loosely.
And just ignore his disciplinary history, I'm sure he was only exercising his free speech rights too 🤷

I think the divide in this comes down to those who would've happily revealed where Anne Frank was hiding vs. those who'd be like "Anne who?" I just don't understand that first group. I was raised to stand up for others. I'm glad my parents aren't with it enough to see what is happening lately.

I take a moment every 9/11 to listen to this song & reflect on the lyrics & on what he says at the beginning that if the American people were able to see the victims of our aggression through those same empathetic eyes that we'd never go to war again...

I first took the oath nearly a decade ago and it made me proud of my profession that so many showed up now, at a time when so many attacks on the rule of law have put it in jeopardy. So way to show up Indy lawyers!

In honor of Law Day, Indiana attorneys gathered outside The Birch Bayh Federal Building to reaffirm our responsibility to defend the rule of law, judicial independence, and the independence of the legal profession by taking the Indiana Oath of Attorneys again. 1/2

Following that up with some positives: my parents are doing as well as they can be in memory care given their conditions, we've made progress with getting bills caught up & repairs going, new trail cams set up to keep a better eye on things, AND the best news of all - my partner and I are engaged!

Worse is how we treat our most vulnerable. Healthcare is a human right & should be treated as such. If you're fortunate enough to have assets, you shouldn't have to lose them all just to pay for the care you need. Quality of care shouldn't be determined by how much you "earned" during your life. 3/3

I know many caregivers who struggle with meeting their parents needs & have to rely on Medicaid, but with cuts those hopes of providing the quality of life they deserve are getting dashed further away. The US healthcare system as a whole is shit, complete and utter shit. 2/3

Figuring out the best way to care for my parents & honor their wishes has been a daunting task. At least I'm fortunate my dad had the same great job a majority of his life working for an employee that truly valued his employees, so my dad was able to plan & save. It is so rare to see that today. 1/3
