Do not, do not, do NOT get invested in the fictional version of you someone created in their head. Their fantasy of who you are is NOT your responsibly. Your trauma recovery IS your responsibility-- & you do NOT have the bandwidth to try to talk someone out of their delusions.

It's normal & healthy to grieve the life you thought you were going to have, but didn't.

Lots of adults are sad, angry, or in denial when it comes to that particular loss-- but they won't name it. But trauma survivors know: what must be grieved, must be grieved.
