Looking for an innovative take on deck building, combining the synergies of co-op Slay the Spire and Balatro and yet is somehow 20 years older than both games? This week we dust off JRPG Baten Kaitos

Planta strategy FTW! You guys needed to stop me earlier before I could cut myself off! I'm glad I didn't pull any exploration tiles with wormholes since that special tile was definitely in play. Eclipse Second Dawn for the Galaxy still holds up!
We noted in the latest episode of @omnigamers.bsky.social podcast that Nintendo of America haven't made a peep about the Pokemon 30th anniversary. Meanwhile, check out this ltd B&W Pikachu plush at the Pokemon Center's in Japan. Also, those keychains are laser targeting the generational nostalgia!

Daniel searches for a new purpose in action platformer Mio: Memories in Orbit; Mark chases a new kind of high in Ball X Pit; Plus Ghost in the Shell TTRPG, Axolotl with a Gun, Castlevania and more.

Completely by accident, our Zelda retrospective happens to be on the 40th anniversary of the series' debut! Join the club and share your favorite entry or memory as we revisit its origins.
The original Legend of Zelda presents many firsts, including games' long obsession with waterfall-based secrets. This week on the podcast we examine the secrets of the elders and see how well the game has held up.

Hey Listen!
This week we venture into the dusty dungeons of the Zelda series’ history, discussing how it evolved from The Legend of Zelda through Link’s Awakening, then comparing it with the most recent entry Echoes of Wisdom. Plus State of Play announcements, adventure game books and more.
I've been reading Songlines Magazine (written by real humans!). It has deep coverage of artists, genres and countries that are often overlooked by typical outlets. Not generic "World" music! I'm trying to escape the tyranny of popular music so it's exactly the tonic that I need. www.songlines.co.uk
Some people enjoy playing Souls-like games on Hard mode with dance pads. Others like playing Zelda Echoes of Wisdom Slumber Dojo trials on repeat to get the high score. There are all kinds of definitions of fun!
Special episode here we come!
I need to get the "Let's Play Podcast" back online somewhere. I know text adventure games aren't exactly super popular but audio dramas are more popular than ever it seems. Maybe we can do an actual play IF game for old time's sake @boardgamefeast.bsky.social ?
Did you know Mark used to host a Text Adventure Actual Play podcast? Daniel's been catching up on the genre with the documentary Get Lamp and we compare our thoughts on the magic of text in our latest episode. Join the club on your podcatcher of choice or Youtube

Mark interrogates the time-travelling hijinks of visual novel Steins Gate; Daniel takes tricks for a husband in board game Brian Boru: High King of Ireland (@ospreygames.bsky.social); Plus shining a lamp on classic text adventures and more.
Fire Emblem (GBA) is a solid, if safe entry to the series. It definitely has all of the trademarks of the series that you've come to expect without any of the recent relationship simulator elements which you may or may not enjoy!
Classic episode. Established Patrick Stewart as everybody's space daddy for a generation at least.
That sucks. It's too bad that in this age the penalties for stealing creative work are so small and the barriers to cheating and stealing are even lower! I feel like the bots are coming for Daniel's and my hobby of podcasting too. I've heard some samples. It's pretty disturbing stuff. 😩
I also suffered a game breaking bug during my playthrough of Big Hops. I tried loading my save on 3 different Switches including Switch 2 to no avail. Let's hope they release a patch soon. More thoughts in the next episode of @omnigamers.bsky.social podcast tomorrow!
We continue to appreciate games of a simpler time as Mark checks out the first Fire Emblem game (first official English release at least) to see what makes this tactical series tick. Join the club and let us know your favorite entry.
This week on the podcast: Mark traces the tactical trickery of Fire Emblem back to its beginning; Daniel spends a winter night winding through Wyrm (@gilarpgs.bsky.social); Plus the latest in gaming news, music recommendations and more.
Thanks Alex! I'm sure we're not the first ones to say it, but we're all feeling the same thing. The state of the "games industry" is not good. We love game creators. We wont shed a tear for the shareholders though.
In a recent episode I said that Capcom seemed to be one of the only AAA studios who has gone from hit to hit, with goodwill from its fans, without making too many bone-headed business decisions. It looks like I spoke too soon!
"What You Are Looking For Is in the Library" really spoke to me. It's a hopeful book in dark times. The 5 short stories are a peek into fairly mundane lives. It reminded me that you can find meaning in what you do regardless of where you're at. Here's the episode www.omnigamers.club/2025/06/109-...
@markyuasa.bsky.social's pick for video game of 2025 is @blueprincegame.bsky.social! An intricate clockwork mechanism of mysteries that will continue to surprise with new depths. Hear both of our thoughts on our featured episode.
We're back for a new year, and once again joined by @quaidrayn.bsky.social to look back at 2025, some gaming highlights and trends that have defined the year.

I understand that you've played 10+ games this past week so your difficulty in remembering might be self-inflicted. I'm playing about 3 games at a time without finishing any of them!
