Flying to Tokyo for IBM Quantum Japan Pratictioners Forum happening next week. It’s wild that it has been almost 12 years since my last visit to Tokyo, when I was an undergraduate exchange student at Tokyo Tech. I wonder how much things have changed. It’ll be a trip full of nostalgia.

I recommend Severance, Ted Lasso, Pachinko, Shrinking, The Studio.
This year is going to be full of nostalgia. Quantum games are turning retro!!
BREAKING: Henry Legg @henrylegg.bsky.social WILL get a talk at the APS meeting next week! Presumably on Monday, before Microsoft's Tuesday talk. Let everyone know and please be there!
More to follow.
Interesting. I wonder whether you can come up with some rules for removing game breaking tiles.
It’s not impossible. You can get to the roof before reaching the big gap.
Looks like you first generate a finite set of vertical slice and then use that set to generate the level. Are you choosing World 1-2 because it has more variety than World 1-1?
"For validation purposes of everything we're saying, [we need to be] in the presence of experts. [...] The criterion for being an expert is that you have connected to this call. That's the criterion. [...] We need 100 experts because that's what Microsoft used in their press releases." Sergey Frolov
There is a particular method of deception that Chetan Nayak's version of Station Q uses. While you are focusing on the Q claim in front of you that looks fishy, they overwhelm you with a new one.
Let's call it the 'fake it till you fake it' technique.
Here is how it goes... 🧵
I guess commenting before reading is a trend now.

In 2023 Microsoft Quantum put a comment on our paper.
Their claim was based on a single figure. We requested the data for this figure... no response.
Eventually we got the data through PRL.
We ran the code as described: Fig. 1 in MSFT's comment was demonstrably false.
A BlueSky 🧵.
For newcomers, I and @vincentmourik.bsky.social wrote the 2012 Science article that literally started the Microsoft technical effort to build topological qubits.
The paper is okay, and it includes a lot of negative evidence in the supplement (i made sure of it), 🧵

Right, exactly. I am super disappointed with Scott this time. Just look at this Q&A. Not sure he read the paper, and I guess even if he did, he is not knowledgeable in this sub field to comment much.
This is EMBARGOED until you had your morning coffee
MICROSOFT IS THE LARGEST FRAUD IN QUANTUM COMPUTING
The company escalates its unreliable physics claims to the “qubit” level
I presume we all just ignore Nature themselves saying this does not constitute evidence of Majoranas?
I guess they could have said this a bit more prominently than the Peer Review file... But hey when has Microsoft ever overclaimed?
Started watching The Last of Us show last week and listening to the official podcast. It’s fascinating to see and hear about the changes have been made to the show due to the difference of the medium from the original game.
Soon I can pull off this trick too. And I think the probability of people getting it right will be similar to tunneling through a wall.

I am pretty sure I am the no.2 fan of Christina Aguilera on Spotify, 2nd only to my wife, because our older daughter is obsessed with Mulan. She can only fall asleep with selected Mulan soundtracks. She would wake up if a non-Mulan song plays, when we forget to play the playlist in a loop 😅
Just received an email says that I can get the diploma of the Spanish language exam I took in FEBRUARY. This is top speed.
I took another exam earlier, with only MCQs, which was purely marked by machines. The results came out two months later.
All I can say is, Spain is different. 🤷♂️
Yeah maybe I should play it. It’s a rogue-like but at least it’s an end. Not like Civilization where you can literally keep playing again and again with totally different trajectories.
Literally can’t wait for that day to come 🤣
Really want to play it for a few years but haven’t because of this reason: bsky.app/profile/juny...
Interesting skin color and weapon choices. I haven’t played Hades so I have only seen Zagreus carrying a sword.
For a SINGLE run of a game that you can play many many runs, it’s too much, for me, at least. I can play ~ 1 h / day because of having 2 young kids. So 20 hours is like a month, or 4 days without much sleep which was what happened with that civilization run. Very dangerous game as I said 😅
Since last time I spent 20+ hours on a game of Civilization VI, I decided not to touch games that have a lot of replay value. They are too dangerous…
Going directly from 0 to 1 million doesn’t sound a good plan for making anything. But quantum is different, so why not?
I checked equal1's website and one of their white papers (arxiv.org/abs/2012.09021). It seems their approach is to use Silicon qubit integrated with classical CPU as a QSoC. They are hoping it can operate at 500mK which means it plans to use a He-3 cryostat rather than a dilfridge.
