After being away from Bluesky for some time, I am proud to say that the state of my research is exactly the same as when I left 🫠

Every Christmas I meet old friends who are interested in QC, so I end up using the same metaphor:

• The investors ≡ the children
• "OMG THIS QC IS 1000000x FASTER" ≡ the presents
• QC companies ≡ the parents
• A functional and useful Universal QC ≡ Santa
• Intranscendent benchnarks ≡ the toy store

The good thing about Christmas Holidays as a PhD student is that at least you get to eat some cool sweets while you continue your research

So it turns out that CERN is the main contributor to that experiment! Indeed, they are currently designing the detectors and building two different prototypes (1/20th the size of the planned detectors in DUNE) for testing in their Neutrinos Facilities!

You may have heard about DUNE, the next big (really big) Neutrino experiment in the USA!

Today I had the amazing opportunity to visit the Neutrino Facilities at CERN! 😵

What do they do here, you may ask? 🤨

I need to decide whether to go for a small analytical result or a big numerical one

It really feels like choosing between Mathematics and Physics 🫠

Tip of the week: both ChatGPT and Claude suck when coding in Mathematica, but ChatGPT is blearly better than Claude here

If you want to do numerics on your quantum stuff, ask Claude to code it in Python

But if you need symbolical analysis, ask ChatGPT to draft some code it in Mathematica instead

I can't even go to the gym in peace anymore....

Some physicist didn't really understand the gymbro's "No pain no gain" motto and went for typing CERN Gym rules in LaTeX 💪🏽

I'm looking forward to it

Studying quantum clocks and being late everywhere, life's little ironies I guess 🥸

Tip of the week: if you use Claude as an assistant in your research, create a profile like this

It may not solve the main problems these LLM have with math, but the improvement is noticeable!

I am fine with ChatGPT being bad at math, I can do the fun part (research)

But it would be sick if I could just send him a PDF with ny notes so he writes the draft for the paper 🥹

My research in QM be like:

8h of work: not a single good idea 🙂

At the toilet before going to sleep: WAIT 😧 What if...

Trying the idea the next day: no, definitely not working 🙂
