Great to have been at the premier at the Barbican this evening, a different look at life and career of an artist I've followed since As tears go by. 45 minute concert after the screening including Beth Orton, Jarvis Cocker Rufus Wainwright and Anna Carvi. A great night

A great start to the day here at the BTO Annual Conference in Northampton!
We have a packed day ahead, and we’re looking forward to chatting to so many members and supporters.
This is sad news Barry, we've missed bumping into John since his stroke, often in the most unexpected places. Always good chat and entertaining insights with John.
Congratulations to Julian @penrhynbirder.bsky.social on being awarded the Dilys Breese Medal for his contribution to ornithology and sharing BTO's work across Wales!
A crowd of people in a room at the Society of Wildlife Artists Natural Eye Exhibition at the Mall Galleries, with artwork on the walls in the background.
Congratulations to our award winners this evening, and thank you to everyone who attended to celebrate with them!
Thank you also to the Society of Wildlife Artists for their generosity in allowing us to hold our award ceremony on the opening night of the Natural Eye exhibition at Mall Galleries!

Great shots. Successful trip.
Correction, presumed same bird came close to house and showed well, better than earlier sighting, a lesser whitethroat, a first for garden.
Only my 2nd common whitethroat in our garden this morning. 1st was 5th August 2023. Clearly a good time of year to be looking out for them.

Thanks for walk Ian, good sightings and good numbers
With record temperatures and very little rain before Summer has even begun, we need to start taking better care of our natural world for wildlife and climate. An easy start is to ban lifeless plastic gardens 📝

The @nationalparkcity.bsky.social Walking Festival ends 31st May.
A perfect opportunity to meet fellow nature lovers and explore our National Park City. I’m especially excited for Sunday's ‘beating the bounds’ walk with

Also pleasing to see the refreshing Canadian approach to dogs and wildlife. If only UK conservation organisations were as robust in their approach to dogs and cats!
First visit to RSPB Worth Marshes for a couple of years. What a fabulous wetland

Our first day in Costa Rica began with Ferruginous pygmy owl and end with Black and White owl with keel-billed motmot in between. Now at Arenal Observatory Lodge with a stunning view..
Very sad news the death of Marianne Fairhfull. Followed her since As Tears Go By, North Country Maid, Broken English, Give my Love to London and more. An Evening with Marianne at the V&A was an enlightening and amusing evening. Rest in peace.
The RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch is coming up 24-26 January. Here's a perfect guide. Amazon reviewers say: "The best bird ID book I have found by far" and "Witty, informative commentary and beautiful photos". @CarlBovisNature @Natures_Voice @JB_Publishing
Pleased to add this Spotted Redshank to my new year list on @kentishplover.bsky.social field trip to RSPB Cliffe Pools
Sad to hear the death of legendary broadcaster Johnnie Walker. Followed him since Radio Caroline in the 60's
On a day when house building is in the news, we publish a new report - LOST NATURE.
In it, we asked if housing developers have been delivering their ecological commitments.
Answer: NO.

Big flaw with Labour's 1.5m new homes – house-builders can't be trusted to add biodiversity, as this important @wildjustice.bsky.social study reveals: www.theguardian.com/environment/... Simple solution: funding for proper inspection/enforcement/penalties.
Great night of laughs at the O2 last night
