so relieved to finally stop posting on Twitter completely, I just didn’t post our black friday sale on Twitter this year and I was a little worried but it went totally fine.

I don’t think Newsom can win on the national stage. Kamala should probably take a turn as Cali governor and actually prove she can be effective as a chief executive first.

I feel like there could still be an useful application for neutrino based communication. Like, trigger something on the other side of the earth 50ms faster than you could otherwise.

The handwringing, the introspections, and the blame game for Kamala’s loss, I find all this very boring. It’s too early to worry about 2028. Trump is the real danger now, and the focus should be on how to get through his term with the least damage.

Wife calls it a “potta movie” (bad movie), but it has the two Ms in it, and the title character is the train I took dozen of times to go to college, so what’s not to like?

The actual harm that AI is currently doing is filling the internet with slop. Regulators should be looking at how to curb that before worrying about hypothetical future “singularity”.

Again: mob violence is the intended outcome of the “use your birth gender bathroom” laws. The intent is to provoke violence against trans people and drive them from public life.

They plan to eventually come back to power, and then to kill us all.

I want to copy out (i.e. “scrape”) my bookmarks from twitter. Got any handy tools or chrome extensions you want to recommend.

Hopefully something that could even work would the “rate limits”.

$10m is generational wealth. I would take it even if the snail can touch me right away.

Having to evade the snail for a lifetime? For $10m. Sure. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Opinion | Half the Police Force Quit. Crime Dropped. The charming town has a powerful tale to tell.

I have a piece in The NYT this morning. When a Minneapolis suburb hired a Black chief and assistant chief, over half the department quit. Yet the world didn’t end.

When cops would rather quit than respect the wishes of the communities they serve, maybe it’s okay to let them go.

The moderators of r/IAmA say they will no longer coordinate celebrity AMAs and Reddit "has all the funds they need to hire people" for tasks done by volunteers (Jay Peters/The Verge)

What is public and what is private on Bluesky?

Bluesky is a public social network.

Posts and likes are public.
Blocks are public.
Mutes are private, but mutelists are public lists. Your mutelist subscriptions are private.
Invites and invite trees are private.

Why are my posts, likes, and blocks public?

The AT Protocol, which Bluesky is built on, is designed to support public conversations. To make public conversations portable across all sorts of platforms, your data is stored in data repositories that anyone can view. This means that regardless of which server you choose to join, you’ll still be able to see posts across the whole network, and if you choose to change servers, you can easily take all of your data with you. This is what causes the user experience of Bluesky, a federated protocol, to be similar to all the other social media apps you have used before.

Ben & Jerry’s Ends Paid Advertising on Twitter Due To Proliferation of Hate Speech We believe it is inconsistent with our values for Ben & Jerry’s ice cream to be sold in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. Therefore, Ben & Jerry's ice cream will no longer be sold in the Occupied Palestinian Territory after the end of next year.

Ben and Jerry's end paid advertising on Twitter.
"The platform has become a threatening and even dangerous space for people from so many backgrounds [...] This is unconscionable in addition to being plain bad business."
