We should call this what it is: a broad retribution and harassment campaign by the Trump administration against his perceived enemies.

If you can’t answer that question, you don’t deserve to have “the honorable” preceding your name on a placard.

The only people who are interested in anything Alan Dershowitz has to say are at the Wall Street Journal. No one else cares. Literally nobody.

What I Learned About Billionaires at Jeff Bezos’s Private Retreat — The Atlantic For the richest men on Earth, everything is free and nothing matters.

This feels exactly right. From writer Noah Hawley about the world’s wealthiest men and their disconnection from consequences and morality:

Flu is a readiness and lethality issue wtf are we even doing?

This stuff is soft as baby shit. "The warfighter must never be inconvenienced or so something scary like get a shot," is loser shit.

Six out of nine guys in the Orioles lineup are hitting at the Mendoza line or below. They have one hit through seven innings tonight. Something tells me these things are related.

A clip from The New York Times reads: "But only the entities that officially paid the tariffs are eligible to recover that money. That means that the fuller universe of people affected by Mr. Trump’s policies — including millions of Americans who paid higher prices for the products they bought — are not able to apply for direct relief.

The extent to which consumers realize any gain hinges on whether businesses share the proceeds, something that few have publicly committed to do. Some have started to band together in class-action lawsuits in the hopes of receiving a payout."

The average American family paid $1,700 in tariffs last year, according to the bipartisan Congressional Joint Economic Committee. Few will ever see any of that money back. The refunds will go to companies, if doled out at all. What a joke.

In his addled brain, it’s 42-0, with Trump at first and goal, first down, and Iran is powerless to stop him from scoring again. He’s going to throw a touchdown pass to himself like no one’s ever seen before.

He is brazenly corrupt, so the money probably just went into his pocket or the pockets of family members. I bet if you pick up Don Jr and Eric, turn them upside down, and shake hard enough, bribe money will pour out.

“You fool! You foolish fool!”
(Funny thing is, I worked on the first 72 episodes of this series, including this episode, and did not remember it was Al Gore who said it and not Fry, despite how much the line cracked me up or how many times I’ve said it over the years.)

This is what happens when you have an unhinged liar for president: nothing he says is true and the other side knows it, and then sets about proving all his statements to be lies, then the cycle begins anew

It's essential, but also a fitting punishment for someone who spent so much time and energy protecting the statues and memorials of the white supremacist traitors who came before him in the Confederacy.

I wonder if the Palantir screed was in response to this, if they read this and felt the need to respond with their own thread justifying their actions.

i think it’s SO SUPER TELLING that a lot of this manifesto, which demands that we allow Silicon Valley to enact fascism and endless genocidal violence at home & abroad out of a “moral debt” to the govt that funded its rise, is expressed in the language of anti-wokeness and cancel culture discourse

I really wish more people had paid attention when several observers tried to warn about the technofascist and eugenicist tendencies of thiel and karp and that group, for rolling up on two decades, now.

And i *Really* wish the media & political actors would take the threat of them seriously, today 😕

And so I will circle around to my constant point: the instinct for a comforting aristocracy is endemic in the human populace, and the job of democracy is to ruthlessly destroy it whenever it appears. Not build a political, legal and moral (prosperity gospel) framework which fucking encourages it.

I’d add that this is also evidence of just how mentally and morally cooked the tech oligarchy is. They used to know this was “inside voice” stuff. Now it’s meant to be the organizing principles of society.

Finally finished edits on the book this afternoon. Will let it be until Monday, when I’ll give it a last read through and then send to the publisher. Definitely ready to put this project to bed.

We complain a lot about the New York Times here, and for good reason, but today they published some outstanding reporting on the origin of the Court’s shadow docket, and it leads me to believe that the whiplash within the Times organization has to be greater than what we feel outside of it.

And he’s about to take $10 billion directly from the Treasury in a bogus settlement over release of his tax returns. Literally looting the coffers of our taxpayer money. The corruption is blatant and staggering.
