Sapiens, page 10: The One With the "Obstetrical Dilemma" On It One page at a time,  I'm reviewing  Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind  by Yuval Noah Harari.  Already, what we've seen on the pages pair...

Harari says "women paid extra" when our ancestors evolved bipedalism + big brains. The story he's telling is about our physical inferiority. I say we paid extra by having to argue against that stupid 'scientific' belief instead of doing cool shit.

Brokering peace in the ape (culture) wars | Evolutionary Human Sciences | Cambridge Core Brokering peace in the ape (culture) wars - Volume 8

It took 3 years to complete this paper and it was difficult(!) but I think both @ctennie.bsky.social and I are grateful for the varied perspectives we gained as a result of this collaboration. If you work on ape culture, hopefully you'll feel the same

Great thread! I too was diagnosed with breast cancer before 50 (@47, so closer to 50 than you), but in BC we start screening at 40 (how mine was caught early). I also suffered the guilt that I caused my cancer, can confirm that it sucks to feel that way! Hope you are doing well!

Great! Thanks for that detailed information! Gets me thinking it might be worth purchasing…and keeping at 3D work.

How is the accuracy of models? Would you consider the models research grade? Ease of model fusing? The latter takes so much time on my current set up!

Trump's very first example of the Smithsonian's "corrosive ideology" was an exhibit that correctly stated "Race is a human invention." How is scientific consensus (that biological races don't exist in humans) corrosive? We are asking scientists to co-sign our statement: forms.gle/kqKQF9CZ3jPB...
