I’ve heard that video games predict the future.

I bought my joysticks off of eBay during the summer. I knew that when these machines landed, there’d be thousands of people looking for new joysticks.

The 5080 card I got 30 days ago for $1,199 USD is now $1,349.

WTF is even going on in the PC and GPU market… all these price spikes and reduced product availability because big tech companies want to push AI into everything… sigh.

It’s a rough time to be a gaming PC builder. 🙁

Ah man, I gave up on Ars years ago. Joined it back in July 2001 and stopped visiting it regularly because it really felt like it jumped the shark.

And to think for a little while I led Team Ars Technica Lamb Chop for SETI@Home, too… :/

Been playing some heavily-modded #Minecraft again lately, and I’m thoroughly enjoying the process of converting a massive underground cavern into a lush and vibrant village.

And to think it’s all because I just accidentally trapped a zombie villager in a rowboat in that same spot. 🤣

I’d heard about this sim, it looks really interesting. I like the visual style they’re using, makes it feel warmer and more approachable than The Sims.

Hope it does well, as I have bad vibes about the future of The Sims now that EA has been bought out by a private investment group.

Electronic Arts to be bought by Saudi-led consortium for $55 bn — AFP News Video game giant Electronic Arts, known for The Sims and FIFA games, announced Monday it would be acquired for $55 billion by a consortium led by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund.

A Saudi investment firm is buying #ElectronicArts and taking it private.

At first I thought going private would be a good thing for EA, then I read one of the investors includes Jared Kushner, Trump’s son in law.

This is the beginning of a long and slow bleed-out of a once storied company. #EA
