Pruneface from Dick Tracy saying
ANESTHETIC. YOUR EYE!
YOU SET THE LEG! I'LL TAKE IT WITH MY EYES OPEN.
I KNEW I’d seen him before somewhere. RFK Jr. even says the same kinds of things about medicine as Pruneface (a Dick Tracy villain who was a spy and a saboteur).

Are you kidding me? Opportunity to break out strange stories about the origins of words makes me happier than anything else on this site except maybe bird and cute pet photos.

“was nominated for a Grammy for being a rockstar in 1977”
One might say that was the year he came alive.

Florida GOP having serious second thoughts too. Losing Mar-A-Lago district (GOP +19!!) was not thought possible. Yet, here we are.

The famous Gerry-mander
The shape of the district was somewhat serpent shaped and led to this famous cartoon.

Funny you should say that.
The term, originally written as “Gerry-mander,” first was used on March 26, 1812, in the Boston Gazette — a reaction to the redrawing of Massachusetts state senate election districts under Gov. Elbridge Gerry.

Note that VOTERS directly approved Dem gerrymanders, unlike the GOP ones.

Push polling at its finest. Note they don’t even bother to ask the “question” unless you said you are a Democrat or lean Democrat.
Really wondering how many people are like “never heard him of but why yes, we totally deserved 9/11”.

Why did they take it to the board? Because they didn’t think the board would be batshit crazy and say no to any changes.

No need to be patient. Just need another Chicxulub. Plenty of biomass and no one waiting around.

The gotcha that leads to all the dancing is that if you can see an attack coming and have your blade correctly positioned, you should be able to knock it aside and counterattack (parry/riposte in fencing terms).
So you’re always waiting for the perfect moment to attack.

Other guy has a quiet style. He’s concentrating on parrying (blocking) and staying out of range until he sees an opportunity for a quick strike.

Both are simply trying to touch the other guy first. Depending on variant (saber/epée/foil), there’s limits on where you can touch.
The difference between the two is style. Wavy guy is trying to lull the other guy by setting up a rhythm then breaking it to attack.

The only thing that fits that description is a MagLev (magnetic levitation) train. Which I would be ecstatic if we were building.
Japan has one that goes over 300mph.

"Click of death" strikes Iomega
Zip Drive users are reporting serious malfunction of their drives and disks, including data loss.
Although the Zip had its own problem that wouldn’t become clear until you trusted them for months. They had a nasty tendency to drift out of alignment and not be able to read something they’d written awhile ago.
And then, of course, there was the “click of death”.
