I am generally tired of the cottage industry of national and international publications dropping people into San Francisco to write clumsy commentaries about us that confirms their priors. "You might think San Francisco is progressive and groovy but it actually sucks because..."

Newsom at least was mostly surrounded by old school Brown-Burton machine operatives who knew and cared how government worked, whereas Lurie is surrounded by McKinsey vultures.

Hi San Francisco here, our mayor is a billionaire who only talks to cops and rich people. He’s an austerity ghoul. If anything it confirms the belief that crime rates are cyclical and not related to any particular policy.

Maybe diverting all of our police resources to torturing people experiencing homelessness and disappearing them into black sites for involuntary "treatment" isn't the winning strategy we were told it would be.

The biggest story in the world right now is that the president of the United States is a demented old man who takes pleasure in torturing and killing people and is committing crimes with impunity. And yet most legacy media outlets are too cowardly to tell it like it is.
