It’s just different routes to the same answer. Traditional greens start with climate justice which leads to social and economic justice. New greens start with social and economic justice which leads to climate justice.

If Starmer just said he wanted to influence Trump so he appointed one of the Epstein gang as Ambassador to influence him I’m not sure this would be such an issue…..

A vote for Reform, is a vote for fox hunting.

Time to try something different, I’ve now concluded that there is very little difference now between the Tories and Labour.

‘The tide is turning’, Green party leader tells crowd at march against far right – as it happened Organisers claim half a million people are marching through central London, protesting against the rise of the far right

How can the BBC justify how much coverage they give other marches which are significantly smaller in size?

The bias is so obviously blatant.

Fair play to the 20 fascists on the counter-protest. Must have been soul destroying to be ignored by so many …..

Today Israel has made it legal to hang Palestinians who are found Guilty in Israel and who have a 99.74% conviction rate in their courts

For Israelis who have a 1.9% conviction rate for crimes against Palestinians the death penalty is still illegal

This is yet another War Crime

This is ridiculous. The US should not be allowed to host global sporting events if it’s not prepared to allow people into their country.

Should be nationalised but at least let’s change the formula so that energy bills are calculated on average cost to reduce bills, reduce private profits and encourage renewable use.

Understand the logic but I would rest Konsa on Thursday against Giroud not against a more mobile attack on Sunday.

@zackpolanski.bsky.social Hi Zack, I can’t help thinking that the Together Alliance demo is the best opportunity that we will have to sign up new members and/or get details for potential voters. Moving the online Green Spring Conference to maximise the demos feels like a smart thing to do.

I asked an expert a question because I’m interested in the practical implementation of MMT. I don’t understand why you’ve a problem with that OR why you’ve made statements which have nothing to do with my question OR why you feel the need to be rude BUT those are your problems to solve not mine.

I understand the MMT principles. Demand led inflation/deflation can take hold very quickly. For me, interest rates aren’t very responsive and taxation feels even less responsive. I’m sure Richard has a practical solution and that’s the answer I’m looking for.

The standard theory is that you limit or boost demand via interest rates. High interest rates encourage saving and low interest rates encourage spending. I can see that you can use taxation to do the same thing in theory but I don’t understand how you do it in practice.

No my specific question is if using taxation to manage domestic inflation is better than interest rates, how can it practically be done.

1 month ago 0 0 1 0

So for managing inflation through interest rates. The BoE is made independent, it meets monthly and sets interest rates to manage inflation. I understand that mechanic. If taxation is better, what mechanic can be used to achieve this? That’s my question.

I’m not quite sure why I need to justify asking a question to you ….., but… At about 5 minutes 20, he says that in some cases, interest rates can be used to control inflation but he thinks taxation is better. I’m not an expert and don’t understand how this can be done, hence the question.

I have a question. If you know the answer then please tell me. My hope in asking the question was to get an answer or a pointer to where I can find it. I ask questions to understand better. I dont need to justify why I have a question.

I was asking a question about one statement in the video which I don’t understand. I’m not disputing the video, I want to understand that question as I cannot see how practically you can change taxation every month to control inflation which is the result of the domestic economy.

1 month ago 0 0 1 0

My question is “if taxation is a better way to control inflation than interest rates, how do you do it?” My question has nothing to do with the current state of the economy or about equality.

1 month ago 0 0 1 0

No get that but if you are using taxation to regulate the economy you need to increase or reduce the taxes all of the time. That feels difficult…..

You have to be bold enough to go man for man to be that brave in the press and we weren’t prepared to be that bold. But Chelsea were very good and their shape was very good and they are just better than us.
