Labor literally said CGT and NG were untouchable and max was getting traction on the issue, which pissed Labor off. Labor expected the greens to back a weak housing policy, they didn't and labor had a hissy fit.

yes, they did suggest it, then they ran a million miles away from it, then they attacked Chandler-Mather for suggesting they do it and now they're doing it.

The Greens Were Right and Labor Knows It Jim Chalmers is about to do what Max Chandler-Mather was shouted down for proposing. The difference is a war and a deficit that left him no choice.

It'll be dressed up as generational reform, but that's only half the story. Labor's scrapping of #CGT and #NegativeGearing is both a concession to what they slated the Greens for not long ago, and a (preemptive) depression-era cash grab. New post up now.
