Your welcome 🙌🏼
On the back of this convo I have coded a team based off ball threat prevention (success and unsuccessful) heat map, see here at the bottom of the threat tab:
barts78.github.io/DrBarts2526/...
No problem, I think in the public domain it’s difficult now fbref has gone, but if you can calculate threat in whatever form you wish (xT, OBV, EPV) then you can assess off ball threat prevention. Which will give you some off ball insights.
Per player no, it looks at all the actions (both defensive and attacking) they are involved in and then assess the threat associated with those events.
For a team yeah the threat is displayed zonally, on the heat map viz.
Yep, in the player analysis tab, under defensive stats I have defensive threat (epv) won lost, then under passing stats, I have threat created and received
I think Hugo would have been flagged as offside if he’d scored. But true margins are fine 😎
Also, look at what happens around the hour mark, to Wolves ability to turn threat into xG.

This is more like the REAL liverpool!
A more compact approach off ball, with a new passing structure on ball, getting rewards in a big game!

One of those days!
Lots of pretty patterns in our passing, but no real chance creation, a demostration of how to control a game without the ball from Palace.

Games like the weekend can be frustrating, certain narratives are presented by the media, which may or may not be true. As I always, I find the data helps establish the true story of the game and dispell false narstives along the way.
Here's my latest piece on doing just that.

We are off and running!
the location of passess recieved changed after HT, enabling us to play higher, this & our control in general can be improved, but we got the win.
