Nine year old me was a big booster of the “Wedge is the other” theory.

Oh, I remember! I enjoyed some of these early Lucasfilm Games on my Atari 65XE, but was thrilled when X-Wing started that glorious run of 90s PC games.
lol, yes, full kudos to Jack for making home computing affordable! And I’m actually glad that my first computer was the 2K, monochrome, no sound Timex Sinclair 1000. Nice to have those ”war stories” to tell to younger generations. 😂
Amazing computer, yes. But also far beyond what most families could afford back then. I remember drooling over the Atari computers at Sears but fully recognizing they were unobtainable at those prices. (Then, thank goodness, 1984 came and the far more affordable 600/800XL were introduced.)
Hope you’re back home and resting comfortably soon!
“Launch edition“ is wildly off-base as well
it made me so excited about video games. hidden rooms, easter eggs, there was so much to love about it. yes, it was crude. but we didn't know that then. it was an enormous achievement to us
Loved it. Glad Dennis knew to have some courtesy, some dignity, and some taste.
I also saw Weird Al on his “Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity Tour” and yeah, people WERE seated for that. But it was a way different vibe than a typical Weird Al show.
Yeah, I’d say that’s pretty normal. The more energetic the band, the more enthusiastic the bobbing. Sitting the whole time is generally for genres less energetic than rock. (Maybe for really chill rock bands people sit the whole time?)
She wrote some absolutely delightful Star Trek novels I remember reading (gasp) about forty years ago.
IMHO, the original four hour miniseries not only holds up, but is hyper-relevant now.
Love that period as well! Also really love the 87-93 RPG/Thrawn Trilogy/X-Wing/Dark Empire period… a bit less “gee whiz” but a HUGE growth of lore that is still largely used to this day. Plus the storytelling felt really epic in a way that the earlier non-movie material didn’t seem allowed to do.
True. For decades I‘ve hoped the man has found some peace, but he‘ll release some new music, and the raw self-hatred still seems intact. 😢

Happy to participate in Bring Your #Atari To Work Day! @benjedwards.com
Sad to say, that minus the front-and-center Tempest Replicade, my work space always looks like this.
1st pic is Missile Command machines. The one now in my house could be in that pic! ❤️
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the heads up on this. I would have been distraught if I’d missed it!
Rather than gripe, I’ll just note that the top three games ARE all-time greats.
Last time that happened, it didn’t go well. 😳
Umm… dozena of Trekkies beg to differ. DOZENS! (I am among those dozens)
Any or all of those new to you? (Fantastic Voyage has been a favorite of mine for over 40 years.)
OMG! That’s SO perfect! 😍
From early 2nd (Combat, Street Racer, Outlaw) to late 3rd (Metroid, Contra, SMB3) is just absurd. There REALLY should be another generation in between there for the 5200 and Colecovision.
Oof, very sorry to hear it. Hope you both find work soon. Really wish being a metal goddess was a more lucrative gig!
For all the joy those films brought to all of us, it’s sad how little joy their creator received in making them.
USA! USA! USA!
