Today, along with @thedrewbenson.bsky.social, I once again entered the wide world of podcasting. The show is called Drew and Dan in the Morning, but you can listen anytime. Even right now! podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/d...

Thank you!
Thank you! I thought it'd be fun way to talk to people from different walks of life and help out young people exploring careers.
Thank you!
My son passed his driving test this morning. I have mixed feelings about this lol. I was hoping for reliable FSD everywhere when he came of age but not yet.
Using 4.7 in desktop app is fine. it's just the web app I'm having issues with.
Claude warning message "The model used in this conversation is no longer available. Switch to continue chatting.
What is this? Happened while using Claude 4.7
one super annoying thing that is ChatGPT esque is that it keeps saying "I want to be honest with you... humans are better for ..." Like no duh Sherlock. If i had an equivalent human expert, I'd use them. It's super annoying and condescending.
It was less opinionated and gave me a lot more data points and left more decisions for me.
I am inquiring about some college programs and so far, it seems more thorough in research and it is trying to consider different paths more than 4.6, hard to tell with just one trial but that's my impression after about 30 min.
I don't know whether it's a good or a bad thing that these new version updates are so thrilling to me. I have 1000 problems that are more pressing but "oooh, 4.7!"
What's a good test?
I c 4.7
I keep hearing bad things about integrity of the CEOs, but how do u trust any. Is it campaign that data u enter, u r giving yourself away, or is it scaremongering. As an outsider, I don’t feel like I know enough to decide, like when I look outside the plane, what am I looking for for reassurance
And just how expensive mythos going to be with all this hype. It reminds me of sales people who just talk up a product without showing u the price. And it’s like if h have to ask, u can’t afford it.
And another product i had written off few months ago reveals itself in a surprising way. I keep hearing we r just reviewers - well how do u become a good reviewer. It’s a tough balance and some of messaging is dangerous.
It’s surprising to me how models change from time to time: id be sure that one is absolutely superior in every category and over night, something happens and it just acts very generic in some categories all of a sudden like they handed off conversational stuff to unthinking, untrained staff.

What does it take to become an airline pilot? In the latest episode of Learning to Work, @danoleary.me talks about starting to fly at 14, surviving three engine failures, and what the job is really like after 26 years. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/s...

instagram can be addictive because of constant attractive visuals catered but I find funniest memes on subreddits- one of my favs is threeBodyProblem subreddit. Defo it‘s an addiction problem but I agree w research about positive environments and addiction. Been getting into local in-person events
one of the things to be aware of in relying on LLMs for decisions is that they tend to over connect dots and come up with conclusions based on information you gave rather than defaulting to verifying basic information. and second is what everyone talks about, without struggle, things don’t stick.
Strict diet protocols or just moderation of foods you love with fresh ingredients. Making sure u let ppl who matter know that they do and scheduling things that bring you joy.
I’m still jet lagged from return last Saturday. 17 year old son slept off differences on flight both ways, just saying he’s a bit sleepy on subsequent day after travel. M craving gnocchi, focaccia. smaller portions and ppl seem slim. wonder about best overall strategy optimizing health/happiness
I thought that this can be extended to everyday life as well. I guess in this particular case is that problems were isolated, well defined Which is not always the case in life.
I always find it interesting that vacations help me gain appreciation for my life and to recognize some painful truths
Of course, best parts of the trip were bonding w my son, random encounters with friendly people, encountering astounding beauty and perspective away from everyday grind.
It was much better than guides who are not great but great ones were engaging, warm and had stimulating insights.
I just went on week long vacation with my son for his spring break. Claude was invaluable. Helped recognize scams at every turn, best routes, logistics given my situation, transportation, translation, historical info. LLMs failed on something very technical, not well known. Imperfect but astounding
I’m happy to announce winners of short story contest that I hosted to celebrate 2.0 release of Comprehend-Reading app. I think they’re very talented and creative people. www.comprehend-reading.com/writing-cont...
I hope for young people that their self-esteem is not tied to someone else’s esteem of them in anything but to their own ability to think for themselves, create and being fully alive.
I heard an interview with a renowned singer and she said she took lessons with a famous teacher for 19 years and things didn’t really click until year 13! Can u imagine being that fired up and determined about something?
