I feel like Goodwin is getting a lesson in the fact that, even in hard right politics, you can be either pleasant to work with or good at the job but you do actually need to be one of them. His cardinal error was to be a prickly, thin-skinned arsehole and then lose. No one to blame but himself.

“The true threats to our country are not being brought in by immigrants. We are looking at an economy that is faltering from external influence from certain geriatric game show hosts sitting in the White House having little incursions into the Middle East.”

Great piece from @bearlypolitics.co.uk

Absolutely nothing on the impartial BBC website.

Why are they so against reporting on the UK public’s stance against the far right?

Shameful.

The Question Farage Will Not Answer Nigel Farage has been calling Peterborough a rotten borough since 2019. The investigation found nothing. The court case collapsed. He has never mentioned either outcome. This week he is doing it again

Farage wants to scrap postal voting to protect democracy. I work 12 hour shifts in Peterborough, the city he has called a rotten borough twice. Without a postal vote I do not vote. That is the point.

McDonald's has reopened in the Ukrainian city of Mykolaiv after being closed in 2022 following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The reopening had been delayed since 2023 due to Russian bombing, and a water crisis caused by Russia’s destruction of the Kakhovka Dam, which disrupted the city’s supply.

UK currently generating 112% of its electricity demand (with the extra 12% being transferred or stored)

Gas is generating < 12%

So UK is currently meeting 100% of its electricity needs via renewables

The media hasn't held the Tories to account for their abject failure over 14 years in office. The Tories mismanaged the economy and underfunded our public services which is never mentioned in the daily round of why didn't Starmer reverse the mess the Tories left behind the day he took office.

“Australians can now live & work freely in the EU for 4 years and vice versa

That means they now have 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 EU rights than British people. Free movement offered millions of us fantastic opportunities but Brexiteers slammed that door shut, most shamefully on their own children”

Ipswich chair apologises for causing fans ‘hurt and pain’ after Farage’s visit to club The Ipswich Town chair and chief executive, Mark Ashton, has apologised for ‘any hurt, pain or distress’ caused by Nigel Farage’s visit to Portman Road this week

On the one hand, we should always welcome unreserved & apparently sincere apologies like this. As opposed to the mealy-mouthed whinings of, say, Jim Ratcliffe. On the other, this doesn’t explain how they ended up rolling out the red carpet for a human skid mark.

I see that this academy is owned and run by United learning, which runs 81 schools and which boasts on its website that it is all about moral values. The CEO, 88-year-old Sir John Coles, earns £290,000 a year. I’d suggest that other schools in this group should be investigated. Thanks, Gove.

Hundreds of North Sea licences granted by Conservatives have ‘so far produced only 36 days worth of gas’ Exclusive: Findings cast doubt on claims new drilling would help cut bills and boost energy security, researchers say

Hundreds of North Sea licences granted by Conservatives have ‘so far produced only 36 days worth of gas’ in 14 years. Time to challenge dangerous fallacy that new North Sea licences can cut energy bills or improve UK energy security. Push for renewables instead.
