Another reason why we need to transform our FPTP voting system. Currently people have to sift the tea leaves and guess if say the Greens or Labour stand the best chance in Gorton, whereas STV for example, would let them vote with their heart, but still get their preferred second choice.

Wow!
Palestine Action win judicial review - Guardian report.
This is a *big* legal win.

I think everyone's massively overreacting. We created plenty of chances, and had two that should've been goals (Rice and Martinelli). We defended really well and limited Brentford to the one clear chance they scored.
We're gonna drop points. The premier League is hard. So will City.
Christ alive. One of the most unhinged racists we've seen in UK political life, and that's really saying something.
I'm hopeful such an extremist candidate will be very likely to lose, but if he wins...that's a real canary in the coalmine...
brass solidarity band performing “stand by me” in the streets of whittier next to alex pretti’s memorial. the crowd started chanting “the people united will never be defeated” so they incorporated it into the song. i love minneapolis
It's not compulsory.
Will tariffs not impact the cost of living? Seems a reasonable point to make.
Yeah, the fact the ref didn't decide on a SA free kick or penalty, and instead wiped the foul out completely and gave the ball to Egypt, suggests he thought it was an accidental handball. Which I completely agree with! The player was trying to block in a natural position. No fault.
Just insane that he got booked for timewasting when Palace were doing it so much more. Ref was useless.
Not very well, no. They had a joint ad for that and the NY specials, but the actual broadcast dates were bundled together very vaguely.
No one should ever work or buy anything from them again
Matthew Goodwin objects to prosecuting this: ‘I think it’s time for the British to gang together, hit the streets and start the slaughter. Violence and murder is the only way now. Start off burning every migrant hotel then head off to MPs’ houses and Parliament, we need to take over by FORCE.’
Counterpoint: those away games include Anfield, St James Park, Old Trafford, Villa Park and Stamford Bridge.
9th best attack considering those fixtures is fine, and currently has us top of the league.
This is my cyclical reminder that there's really only one consistently reliable source of info in the public record that isn't owned by right wing billionaires, who really want to put an end to it.
Please give at least the $2.75 minimum they request if you can.

Labour have lost more votes to the Greens than to Reform. What they don't understand is that Green voters won't 'come back' while the party is seen to be right-wing

🚨 The UK government just published a breakdown of the responses to its consultation on AI & copyright:
- 95% of respondents want AI companies to pay for their training data (made up of 88% saying strengthen copyright law, & 7% saying leave it as is)

This whole "you're not mentally ill you're just weak" bollocks being pumped out by the BBC this morning is really really dangerous.
If you're finding life hard to handle, please please please seek help.
Your GP won't be one of the anonymous wankers telling the BBC that you're wasting their time.
I rather suspect a lot of her claims on this are massive exaggerations to bring more attention to the ludicrousness of the government's Palestine Action stance, but we'll see!
Slovenia also withdrawn
Do you have full context for this, because the graph says "should" not "would", which is quite an important distinction...

That the OBR thought were unlikely? Their job is to estimate the result of financial decisions, not their likelihood.
Considering our productivity was at its recent worst in 2023, I think it's reasonable to think any productivity revision would have happened immediately after, not two years later.
Is his argument not that the Tories did this and he supported it because the OBR's numbers said it was affordable? And that if they had downgraded productivity earlier rather than kicking the can, it would not have been affordable and therefore he would not have supported it?
As a copy editor friend pointed out to me once, there's no comma in the title, which reduces the smugness just a tad.
Oh the weather outside is frightful

Wow - this guy must be really, REALLY bad with money if an extra £208 per month will “ruin” his retirement.
Let’s take a look at his situation based on what he told the @Telegraph
Because this does NOT add up!
No, this is not a “poor pensioner” scrabbling around for pennies…

Huge respect to the papers for finding both an 88 year old worried about the tax bill on her 6 bedroom Kensington house and a 20 year old fretting about only being able to save £12k a year tax free.
Top work all around. These are not easy case studies to find.
How much money must you have earned to have paid “millions” in taxes? Follow up question, how have you earned enough to pay millions in taxes, but somehow a few grand extra has ruined your retirement plans?
