JB on Duren after practice today: “We’ve gotta put the ball in his hands … do a better job of letting him touch it in different places.”
Also asked JB about Ausar only playing 3 minutes in the fourth in Game 1.
Tune in!!! #Pistons
Discussing Game 1 and talking Game 2 adjustments live on the Pistons Pulse with @shawnwindsor.bsky.social and @motorcityhoops.bsky.social this evening at 5 p.m.
Jalen Duren received one 3rd-place vote.
Ausar Thompson finished third in Defensive Player of the Year with 60 points (9 2nd-place points, 33 3rd-place votes).
Victor Wembanyama won DPOY unanimously with 100 1st-place votes and 500 points. Chet Holmgren finished third with 239 points.
Felt like they needed more Stew, more Ausar and maybe more Huerter and LeVert over Jenkins. In the fourth, needed to get out of halfcourt hero ball and bother the Magic defensively. Jenkins-Cunningham-Robinson-Harris-Duren couldn't quite match their physicality.
Thought the Pistons could've leaned on LeVert a bit more last night. Only played four minutes.

Cade on if this can build momentum for Orlando: "I know that they feel great about this game, it was a big one for them ... I'm sure that they feel great about that. We're sick about losing this one. It's a long series, though. There's no confidence drop from us."
Pistons' last home playoff win: May 24, 2008 against the Celtics. They've dropped 11 in a row, and all eight at the LCA
Ausar on if he thought the team felt nervous or tight coming into a home opener: "Nah, I can’t say that for me. No matter what seed I am I’m trying to win a championship … no nerves on my end."
Ausar: "We just gotta take every play that play at a time, not worrying about scoring 10 points in one possession and just do what we’re supposed to do each possession, and we’ll get back in the game."
FINAL: Magic 112, Pistons 101. Their home winless streak at the LCA continues. Couldn't overcome a poor start or quiet night from Duren (8 pts, 7 rebs, 3-4 overall) on both ends.
Cunningham: 39 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists
Four shot attempts for Duren tonight. One in the second half. Just won't cut it
I'm old enough to remember Orlando leading the Pistons 3-1 and losing the series
Lot of conclusions being drawn off one game. Not that the Pistons don't have a lot to take away and learn from tonight, because they do. Haven't led once at home tonight.
Daniss put his whole shoulder into that, drew Bane's fifth foul. Pistons are down 103-95 with 3:45 to go. Running out of opportunities
Cade in the 1st half: 14 pts, 1 asst, 3 turnovers, 5-14 overall shooting
Cade in the 2nd half: 18 pts, 3 assts, 0 turnovers, 6-9 overall.
Big ovation for Cade, who is putting the team on his back
Only six minutes for Ausar in the second half so far. Magic open the 4th 6-6 form the floor with him on the bench
Cade has been much better in the second half. Pullup 3 cuts it to four. He has 28 points on 10-20 overall shooting
End of 3: Magic 81, Pistons 74. Shooting 39.3% overall and 32% from 3, lucky to only be down seven. Haven’t had an answer for Paolo (23 pts, 8-13) but they’ve taken away everyone else.
Cunningham: 23 pts, 3 assts
Magic win the challenge on the Holland foul call. Jump ball
One of most disconnected games the Pistons have played all season. Giving up too many open shots, having a hard time sustaining runs offensively. Losing the rebounding battle. Not the team they've been.
Cade's looking more like himself. Pullup 3 ties the game at 65. First tie tonight
