I am so glad I've never been "cool" so I don't have to worry about keeping up appearances. The burden of trying to impress others sounds horrible. I just do what I enjoy and hopefully other people who enjoy the same things will end up being my friends.
He is so fortunate to learn these things. I mostly just tell my cat that she's small and that spicy food would make her sick even if she wants to eat it.
It was my first of three in a row and it was so good. Caught every single set from the Icelandic black metal groups, got to see Neurosis and Converge obviously, and even snuck in a rare Lugubrum set. Plus like twenty other bands. What was your Roadburn like that year?
If any of you have any recommendations for cool things to experience in London, please let me know. So far I mostly just have the concert I'm attending, the haunted ass Tower of London, and finding some of those Paddington statues to sit with.
Some friends helped me out a bit, so I'm gonna be in London in about two weeks to see Thank play their 10th anniversary show. Dreams do come true.
A decade ago I hopped a plane to another country to watch Converge play Jane Doe in full (and Neurosis and
a bunch of sick black metal bands) and recently I'm getting back into that mindset. Traveling to see shows is the best feeling in the world.
I have been embracing small moments of recklessness lately and I think it's actually improving my life instead of sending me into ruin the way I feared it would.

It's my day off, so I caught an early showing of Living in Oblivion (from 1995) at Nitehawk Cinema, grabbed a small brunch at an Algerian spot, and picked up a sick compilation of Indonesian psych from Earwax Records to celebrate Record Store Day before coming home to snuggle with Butterscotch.

Had an incredibly mediocre and pricey meal at an east village bar tonight because it was a block from my hairstylist's, but they played La Isla Bonita into Tell It To My Heart into Smalltown Boy which was amazing...still kinda done with the east village for now though.
I have friends in Montreal and I want to go see them one day! This isn't about bands that sing about "Canadian history" haha
I think a lot of people are trying to make me like french canadians, yeah
I keep ending up in the east village because it's easy to get to by train from bed stuy, but my goal this spring and summer is to start hanging out in neighborhoods that aren't convenient. Get in some good book time on the train and experience something new.

I'm certainly not saying this as if I'm "above" pop punk. I grew up on nu metal. I just really don't enjoy it and it's wild to me to paint my generation as pop punk/emo as if Linkin Park wasn't the single biggest band on earth for a couple years there.
