The Qiantang river's tidal bore is the world's largest and most powerful of its kind. Sometimes two tides meet together forming a shape like a cross, that can become even more captivating at sunset.

Eeeeeeeee GIG IN NORWAY
A belted galloway cow walking into the mist, towards a bold, unpredictable future.
βSo it was, on that misty morning, that Brenda set off for the capital. She knew not what she would find there, only that the time had come to move on - away from small-minded rural attitudes and people who called her βOreoβ and βthe wide pandaβ - to seek a more fulfilling life.β

Goood morning Womble, happy Sunday!
I've just finished Hannu Rajaniemi's Darkome (brilliant, sad there is no word on the sequel yet!) and starting Liz William's The Demon and the City; the second book in a great series of noir paranormal crime set in an alternate Singapore. Was a surprise discovery.
Oh, I am hugely due a reread. I'll be taking the doorstop off the shelves π

A whole thread of a lot of feels because my original book boyfriend Professor Alexi Rychman, king of bombast and pure, unadulterated Gothic nonsense, inspired his very own scent as made by an extremely talented perfumer:

To those still complaining about Artemis 2:
We spend 100Γ more on killing people for oil profits, but yeah, NASAβs the problem. π€¦π½ββοΈ
NASA: $25B
Defense: $901B
Thatβs 36 NASAs.
Space programs have driven major advancements in science, medicine, and technology, real benefits for humanity.
A full disc image of Earth, as seen from the Orion Crew Module. The planet is a pale blue, swirling with white clouds and glowing slightly lighter blue in place from reflected light. At lower left, a large brown landmass is Africa, with Spain and Portugal with twinkling lights where the planet curves. At top right, auroras glow in a thin green glow, just barely separated from the planet's surface. Earth is set against the black of space (pic: NASA/R.Wiseman)
More context on this #Artemis II image:
* This is the night side, lit by moonlight. You can see city lights in Spain & Portugal, & a sliver of day at lower right
* The Sun is entirely behind Earth, which makes it a kind of solar eclipse, but w/ Earth doing the eclipsing instead of the Moon:
