Konrad Benjamin nails the root of the problem: to stop large industries from ripping us all off, politicians need to stop “going to work in the industries that they literally wrote the rules for”🔥
Rules that as Dr Denniss points out, see gas co’s “pay more in PR than PRRT”💥
Just do it and stop the crap': Ken Henry's blunt response to question of gas tax – video.

Dr Richard Denniss dismantles the gas industry’s favorite threat.
If taxes kill investment, why is the gas industry rushing to Norway to pay 78%? 🙄

Nationals’ Susan McDonald has no rebuttal & scrambles to change the subject. #auspol
Jewish man among first charged in pro-Palestinian slogan crackdown that reminds some of 1970s Queensland.
Oh the sweet irony 🙄

A nice chat between Damon and Jacques talking about their time together at Williams.
I still recall the absolute delight at Damon finally winning his title.

I visited Italica in December. There were a lot of great mosaics.
“And for the government under Anthony Albanese, its noted incrementalist approach may, in the end, add up to more than the sum of its parts. But we probably won’t know until it’s long disappeared in the rear-view mirror.”
Maybe it will, maybe it won’t.

I believe he genuinely does not believe he has done anything wrong which, is the part us civilians need to get our head around according to the Manosphere.

Australia has a serious problem with social cohesion, but it’s no good pretending it’s recent. Koori civilisation has been torn asunder ever since the convict ships dropped anchor.

A painting using watercolour paints showing Tea Tree Bay looking towards the point.
A #watercolour painting of Tea Tree Bay, Noosa. I used a photo I took there last week as a prompt, and removed the humans scattered around.

I see the difference clearly and, there is a danger that just acknowledging what they have done might be misconstrued by Labor as satisfaction with their performance.
As an aside, I have/do acknowledged the things they have done well. When it happens.
One might also say the same of those who refuse to see the huge opportunities for positive change that two huge majorities gave Labor being squandered.
However, we are all free to our own opinions ions and, to vote as we wish.
My post very clearly says “principles” (macro) not policies (micro).
Toothless NACC
Electoral reform which makes it harder for Independents.
Gambling reform that is pathetic at best
No changes to basic welfare payments
No action on tax reform in corporates & billionaires
Fuddling with housing supply
To name a few.
But again, my post was about macro ideology.
A good example of false equivalence, thank you.
My post was commenting on macro ideology.
Yours appears to be comparing micro actions.
These are not the same. But perhaps I failed to be clear enough and/or, am misunderstanding you.
The main point about Mamdani is that in a country of Republican Neoliberalism gone mad, he has the courage to make changes.
I think I’m at the macro level here. We cannot fairly compare what might be a major shift in NYC to Australia.

I won’t list the many ways his changes have been toothless tigers or tokensim aimed at keeping business appeased (and their chequebooks open).
Yes, he has fiddled. But then so did Nero.
Dear @albomp.bsky.social,
Remember when you stood for these principles?
