This morning, the Milwaukee Common Council passed an ordinance prohibiting law enforcement officers, when acting in an official capacity, from wearing masks or face coverings and requiring that both agency and individualized identification be worn.
No matter what’s happening at the federal level, the greatest difference we can make is in our own state, communities, and neighborhoods.

Quote by Red Cliff Chairwoman Nicole Boyd: "For centuries Indigenous people have used this plant medicine for various medical and ceremonial purposes. It's proven to be more effective in treating a large array of ailments than standard pharmaceuticals, it can be a regulated industry for this state with measurable benefit, and it is hard not to prioritize when it is clearly supported by over 60% of the voters in this state."
At the 2026 State of the Tribes Address, Chairwoman Boyd emphasized the importance of medical marijuana for Indigenous communities in treating ailments like chronic pain, epilepsy, PTSD, and addiction.
Besides being wildly popular, legalization is an Indigenous justice issue.

Most Wisconsinites want cannabis to be legal, and criminalizing it is costly, racist and unpopular.
Legalization should be a high priority in Wisconsin. Read our report here: https://www.aclu-wi.org/publications/cannabis/
We hope more Wisconsin counties follow Dane's lead and opt out of this mass surveillance network.

This resolution is a protective measure against the dangers of mass surveillance.
Dane County is doing the right thing by divesting from Flock technology, which scans and stores license plate data to track countless drivers every day without their knowledge or a warrant.
BREAKING: In a victory for privacy, the Dane County Board voted to defund Flock.
The board passed 2025 RES-403, the resolution to amend the 2026 operating budget for the Dane County Sheriff's Office to remove funding for the use of the Flock automatic license plate reader system.
No one should be incarcerated for marijuana.
What often gets overlooked in calls for legalization is the need to grant clemency to people who have a criminal record due to a weed-related conviction.
We need legalization, we need clemency for cannabis convictions, and we need to begin to right the wrongs of the failed War on Drugs.

With Mobile Fortify, agents simply need to point a phone at anyone in public in order to instantly access their name, date of birth, and other data.
This is how you build a biometric registry.

Last September, SCOTUS quietly gave its blessing to racial profiling on a massive scale.
Since then, federal agents have continuously ignored basic human rights, especially targeting Somali and Latino communities.

Now that Governor Evers has signed this bill into law, Dreamers can obtain professional licensure for teaching, nursing, plumbing, and more.
Although we critically need pathways to citizenship at the national level, we celebrate this step toward equity for DACA recipients in Wisconsin.
According to a Dreamers of Wisconsin tuition equity policy brief, DACA-eligible residents in Wisconsin pay $48 million in taxes and make massive contributions to our economy. Without DACA recipients, the state would lose $427 million in GDP annually.

WIN: Governor Evers today signed AB 759, now 2025 WI Act 240, into law. This bipartisan legislation removes employment barriers for DACA recipients.
The thousands of Dreamers who live in Wisconsin, along with the undocumented community as a whole, play a vital role in keeping Wisconsin running.
No matter what’s going on at the federal level, this is a reminder that we can have the greatest impact in our own state and communities.
