Boston Councilor Durkan files amendment to eliminate residential parking minimums.
“The lesson from every city that’s taken this step is the same: developers don’t stop building parking when they’re no longer required to. They build what the market & residents actually need.”

Mayor Wu _says_ she's not canceling the project, she's trying to make it better. But it's easy to see through the words. The delays, canceled meetings, and changes (center->side running buslanes) sure seem intended to ruin the project.

This piece is frustrating. The bulk of it is spent on the debate around licensing with a brief mention at the end of a major issue: Many older drivers live in areas without transportation options. Stricter licensing and more road tests are needed, but we also need to address car dependency.
Articles like this always frame taking the keys away as a personal family tragedy. It’s actually a systemic infrastructure failure. We've built a society where losing a driver's license means losing your entire independence and connection to the world. It shouldn't be this way.
People are showing up to court in Massachusetts for minor issues and being kidnapped by ICE.
I hope the legislature moves quickly on several pending pieces of legislation that will limit ICE's ability to operate in courthouses, including expanding virtual hearing access.
The portal, which went live on Friday, allows members of the public to upload photos and video, as well as to report details of incidents involving federal immigration agents.

Every day Mamdani comes out and is like "hey guys, I turned off the orphan-crushing machine. Literally just had to flip a switch. Took less than 5 minutes."
After decades of dem leadership pissing and moaning and fundraising about how complex an issue it is and how difficult the process is etc
I know a lot of people feel like they have to do everything, and get overwhelmed that they can't. If that's you: Find one way to contribute that works for you, and do it as well as you can. People will depend on you for that, and you can depend on others for everything else that needs doing.
Half the battle with this guy is just reiterating government can and already does good things that are so ubiquitous they’ve become invisible. He’s able to remind you in a way that you understand that good government can exist outside of a 24/7 vengeance operation, and in NYC already does.
