I'm asking this of everyone I see divesting from Meta, because I'm seeking solutions for myself: where and how are you finding diverse community connection spaces that replace the group spaces that Meta has provided?

Yeah, it's chaotic out there. But don't let the chaos drive you into the arms of would-be cult leaders.

After the Palisades fire burned down his home, Casey Colvin feared the worst for his dogs, who he couldn't get back to despite desperately trying. But after five days, he and Oreo finally got a tearful and ecstatic reunion. "I'm never gonna let him go." 14/10 for all

A six-panel comic. In panel 1, there's a pigeon standing awkwardly next to a pile of sticks with two eggs on it, and the panel is titled "Why pigeons make bad nests: A defense of pigeon aesthetics." In panel 2, a pigeon sits on a pile of sticks: "Many people think that pigeons are bad at making nests. Here are three good reasons why pigeon nests look bad." In panel 3, there's "Reason 1: Some birds, like orioles, nest in tree branches, so they weave elaborate structures that can withstand the elements..." And there's a female Baltimore Oriole weaving an elaborate hanging nest in a silver maple tree. In panel 4, "...but rock pigeons evolved to nest in crevices in cliffs, safely tucked away." And there's a pigeon sitting on a nest in a hole in a cliff. In panel 5, "Reason 2: People domesticated pigeons ages ago. Pigeons didn't need fancy nests because they had human-built homes." A beautiful dovecote shelters a flock of pigeons. In panel 6, "Reason 3: Less time making nest = more time eating seed." A pigeon pecks a seed near its nest, and says "It's called math."

Me at the start of 2024: straight guy

Me at the start of 2025: Asexual heteroflexible polyamorous relationship anarchist

Cheers for self-development and becoming more intentional in my relationships with others.

To pass this knowledge on: the only setting I needed to do in skyfeed is the Regex. I was trying to include too much, and it ended up excluding things. So, in Regex, include all things you want the feed to capture, including keyphrases and tags (marked with hashtags) and separate with a |

Please give a shout out to @sullux.bsky.social who has helped me figure out the, er, back end of skyfeed, and tune up both the #RelationshipAnarchy and #SoloPolyamory feeds.

A lot of folks confuse Relationship Anarchy with Relationship Libertarianism - so let's clear this up? RA is about decentering a single romantic partnership in favor of community building. RL is about doing whatever on a whim without any consideration for how it impacts others.

Sometimes I think that Relationship Anarchy is the inevitable result when you never stop being that kid who incessantly asks "But why, but WHY, BUT WHY?"

Solo polyamory is consensual non-monogamy without a desire to 'couple up'. It's not the same as being single. SoPos can have long term and meaningful relationships, they just don't (usually) live with partners or get too life entangled with them.

this is so relateable. Back in Vancouver circa 2012 a lot of polyamory looked (to my newbie eyes at least) to still have a lot of internalised monogamy going on, which didn't sit with me. I'll have to pose some questions about RA soon!

Solo Polyamory is non monogamy done intentionally without traditional enmeshment such as the relationship escalator, couple's privilege etc. Solo Polyam people are not single, nor are they "off the market". They have flipped the market tables and are dancing on them.

Let's talk about Solo Polyamory!
How did you first learn it was a thing?
Back in 2012 I decided to be in a primary relationship with myself, and described it as being polysingleish. Then someone introduced me to the SoloPoly blog by Aggie Sez... and the rest is history!

Okay. I am assured that the Relationship Anarchy and Solo Polyamory feeds are working for folks, and even though I am not convinced, I'll roll with that and trust that when someone sees how to improve them they'll let me know 🫠 #ImposterSyndrome

Thought for the day:
Patriarchal, white supremacist, or colonial ideas about bodies may have influenced your aesthetic attraction to others... however, these things do not need to define eroticism, and your experience of the erotic does not need to be limited by them.

I found some instructions online but then I ran into technical jargon and I got lost 🫠 I dooo have two set up but they need... refining.

1 year ago 0 0 0 0

No, a feed (in theory) scours bsky for set key words and tags. For example there is one for "cats" and it will show you everything cat related that's been posted recently. You could set one up for CV Politics!

@bsky.app is skyfeed the only way to set up a feed? I've tried to set up a couple, but they aren't grabbing everything. Is there an easy how-to guide that explains it with less programmer jargon?
