The curiosities and Creators expo
3:30am start and ready for the many hours drive to vend at The Curiosities and Creators Expo in Newcastle today!
This will be my first time vending in this area, so looking forwards to meeting new folks!
I think a big issue in this community is. It was heavily built on a attitude of sharing work for free (for example the OG fidget dragons were not made by cinder dragon, but a guy who released his project free.) This generosity by some created a very entitled group of people, ignorant of arts value
(Of course i know some amazing guys that actually care about art in these spaces, and are genuinely awesome dudes. But man the actual forums and spaces are festering.)
Yup! A guy that I got along with/ helped run a printing Discord group I was in. Started mocking me openly when I talked about the harms of AI. Went full nasty on me when I confronted his behaviour. Turned out he only cared about his free bug tittied girl Slop & models he didn't even make.
I used to be in a couple of 3D printing groups way back on fb. & on the occasion I posted or asked a troubleshooting Q (like 99.9% of the men on there). They would look at my name, see I was a woman and talk down to me like I was a ignorant toddler. Ended up leaving all groups cause it was So toxic.

In black and white terms. Trump and his cabinet need to go. They have caused great harm to the country they supposedly represent. They are threatening serious war crimes. And that alone should be enough to have them removed. This needs to end, and I hope people find the balls to get it done.

While there are some professionals that I have seen give into the slop (a lot of 3D artists for some reason.) The majority of people claiming to be pros with years of history....always have dead accounts with no examples of art past the year AI slop became popular lol.

I literally dont have a choice. I have a event paid for thats in a week, then next weekend and the one after I have to drive out of state twice for big events I've paid for D: If they say you have to work from home ill have to argue my case somehow (that most days I DO).

First up, Bluejay Kenku! While I will still have the normal raven variety available. I wanted to branch out and have some other bird species on offer! (More to come!)

The are super articulated too, they even have moving mouths and tongues! They are actually pose-able gatcha models that I got in Japan a couple years ago. Amazing quality

AI and its bullshit had really killed my desire to keep practicing this style I was just starting to focus on. But the itch is back, and I am hoping I can scratch it and create some artwork people will hopefully enjoy in the future!
I think I have decided, since I had to cancel one of my biggest events for commission work. Apart from the odd one here and there. I will be taking a break from commissions this year into next. Once I have completed my list, I will be focusing on bettering my realistic style via paleoart practice :)

Absolutely get the fear of finding work & what they think when you are new (I did the same thing as many. Worked insanely long hrs sometimes from 6am till midnight to learn fast & seem keen.) But it never works out, your health will always suffer. & at the end of the day, dedication loses to $$$
The best time I had at studios was probably my last 2 placements before I deicide to retire for the freelance life. I did no Overtime, and just made sure I worked hard and got as much as I could done in the hours paid. I was healthier & happier, & they were happy with me & continued to hire.
