The official policy of the Trump Administration is ignorant bigotry. We’re asked, under principles including charity, to assume that people support the administration despite that policy, not specifically because of it. I am increasingly unwilling to extend that charity.

I know it's too easy to grow numb to the constant flood of bigotry that comes out of his mouth but it does seem morally important you don't allow yourself or anyone else to become desensitized to this vile racism as a normal part of our politics

the political policy cure for “male loneliness” is

- more time to hang with the fellas (4 day work week)

- more money to spend with the fellas (higher wages)

- more things to do with the fellas (taxing the rich and building 3rd spaces)

I’ve finally accepted that the Dallas Cowboys really are America’s team. The overconfidence, bad decision making ,with a decaying white man as the figurehead is very American.

2 bits of data from new Economist/YouGov poll.....

13% support for cutting research funding to universities. 24% among Republicans. Polling on this continues to be catastrophic for the Rs, suggests Dems should be learning far harder into standing up for science and our universities. 1/

'A railroad job': Trump says he'll look at pardoning convicts in Whitmer kidnapping plot Nine people were convicted or pleaded guilty to either federal or separate state charges in a plot to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.

Why does Trump keep pardoning Americans who are the kind of people he claims he's deporting, while he continues to try to deport students & people facing persecution if they're removed? www.usatoday.com/story/news/p...

The country with the most sophisticated intelligence capabilities in the world, and the president is holding up
"a months-old blog post" from an obscure, conspiracy-mongering site "featuring a photo from the Democratic Republic of Congo" while making allegations against South Africa to its president

So dangerous to create a personalist regime where no coherent policy is ever made and anyone who contradicts the leader is forced out. The governance of modern societies depends on planning and information flow.

This is top-notch thinking.

Yes, rich people show no interest in acquiring money. Let's add that narcissists couldn't possibly be interested in lavish praise—they already think the world of themselves! And why would an arsonist start a fire, after having set so many?

the thing is, people really do believe that trump can’t be corrupt because he’s rich, and it is hard to persuade people that trump has a different relationship to money than the rest of us (it is a literal fetish object for him)

These defenses of unprecedented corruption are not only insultingly stupid, they are also deeply undemocratic: Oversight and critical inquiry are deemed illegitimate because “our great leader” would never do this, we ought to be grateful to the “great leader” for blessing us with his presence.

America should be so lucky that this great man, chosen by God and destiny to restore national glory, is willing to forsake his wonderful life of unimaginable wealth to save us all! Are we even worthy of this blessing? We puny fools who have never tasted such a life of riches?

It’s dictator shit.

BREAKING: Rand Paul calls out his own party for tripping over themselves to approve the largest debt ceiling hike in U.S. history. $5 TRILLION.

The same clowns who call food stamps “socialism” are out here writing blank checks to defense contractors. Every. Damn. Time.

This Rümeysa Öztürk hearing is radicalizing.

I've been a court reporter for many years, and I've never covered anything like this: A student deeply committed to her studies, imprisoned solely over writing an op-ed, being made to testify under oath for her own freedom.

Dark, dark stuff.

Also it’s just factually true that the modern GOP base is disproportionately low-education voters and their policies are actively anti-education and anti-intellectual. You are allowed to judge people based on their stated beliefs and demonstrated values.

Imagine if the Bidens had orchestrated a crypto scheme of this magnitude, sold $5 million dinners with the commander in chief, or cut a deal with a foreign government for a $5.5 billion Biden-branded Middle Eastern golf resort. Gotta love the shameless double standard of it all.
