I recently spoke with Bilal Hasan, CFFC's Flyweight Champion.
As he's putting together an undefeated regional run full of highlight wins, Hasan has also caught the attention of Indonesian fans, who are cheering him along

Sweaters in different colours for the brand Cheeky Sumo.
My bad, it's a sweater (not a hoodie) that we are giving away.
Man poses with a fan in front of his face. His t shirt reads Cheeky Sumo.
Big thank you to Maxx for sending me a classic Cheeky Sumo tee. We'll be giving away a Cheeky Sumo hoodie to a Sumo Stomp! subscriber after the May tournament. Head over to cheekysumo.com to check out all of Maxx's gear. And subscribe at sumo-stomp.com for a chance to win one.
Oh and if you want to talk, catch up, etc. (and not talk about sumo) shoot me a DM and I'll give you my discord name.

My first report card for the March tournament is live.
I don't spend a lot of time on social media. That's why I miss a lot of follows, likes, replies, etc. I appreciate it if you're trying to engage with me, please don't take my inactivity as a sign of disinterest. The best place to talk with me is over on sumo-stomp.com.

Ikeda Shun wins his 2nd consecutive All Japan (Amateur) Sumo Championship with an utchari at the tawara's edge in a fierce bout vs Twardorj Buchchoron of Mongolia, a senior at Nita University & winner of the Student Yokozuna title this year.
Ikeda follows (the now ozeki) Onosato as a 2x champion.

I've actually gotten into tennis this year, particularly the WTA. Matches feel a lot like fights, with momentum swings similar to what you see in boxing and MMA.
That actually helps me a lot lol
News dropped today via Inside Sport Japan's social media outlets of the Kyokai's return to the UK next year:

A tegata (hand print) from sumo wrestler Takakeisho.
Last chance to win an authentic ozeki Takakeisho tegata! Check the reply for details.
The bylaws of the Japan Sumo Association state, that for yokozuna promotion a wrestler must win two consecutive tournaments or "the equivalent."
For example, Kakuryu and Terunofuji.
As for two simultaneous promotions? There have been five including:
Taiho and Kashiwado
Kitanofuji and Tamanoumi
It is not out of the realm of possibility but both Kotozakura & Hoshoryu could be promoted to yokozuna in Hatsu.
According to Takatagawa ex-Akinoshima, head of judging (and promotions), "If Hoshoryu continues to wrestle well and wins the title, he will be able to reach his dream."

Young sumo wrestler Konishiki dining at Camp Zama Japan Army Base Hawaiian Club circa 1982 or 1983
My first exposure to sumo was the Kyushu basho in 1963 when the great Taiho and several other rikishi visited the small military base where I was stationed on the edge of Hakata Bay. [I on left redhead my wife. Young Konishki opposite. Camp Zama Army Base Hawaiian Club circa 1972/3?]

Kyushu Basho spoilers, but...
Grand sumo trophies are so unserious. "Here's your oversized teacup and giant macaron, sir. Congratulations."

Banzuke Scenarios, Day 14
Here's what to watch for to add some extra spice to Day 15 bouts. Sanyaku S1w Daieisho (8-6) will keep his rank. S1 Kirishima (6-8) will lose his and must beat Onosato tomorrow to limit his drop to Komusubi. K1e…
