Thank you. I was helping my mom look for a new church, and she’s an evangelical. It’s very different from my experience at a mainline church. It reminded me why I am an exvangelical.

I could probably stand it if the music’s theology was better. But

I have felt this recently. They are painful, despair inducing places if you don’t have a spouse and kids

If I could change one thing about American parachurch organization history, it would be the mainstreaming of praise and worship. It has devastated the mainline since people want to listen to their favorite songs from it at church too.

I had a brilliant idea to make an app for making friends instead of dating, only to learn that the dating apps offer friends finding services. Does anyone on earth actually use them for that purpose though? Maybe there’s space for “find non-MAGA friends on a red state” app.

One of those things that haunts me is that I met Tricia Helfer within the past few years, and she specifically asked me if I was going to be back at the con the next day. I couldn’t be, and I always wonder why. I think she was going to invite me to a panel she was on, but what if…

She is appalled by what has gone on in Gaza. She doesn’t support Newsom ever since he had Bannon on his podcast. She is angry over the blatant laws being broken by the Trump admin. Basically, her demographic is to the left of commentators for publications like The Atlantic. 2/2

My mom isn’t a part of the Democratic base per se. (She’s a conservative former Republican.) She’s still an interesting look at how upset that women that age are though and how they’ll vote. She’s mad at billionaires for supporting Trump and helping to elect him. She despises ICE. 1/2

The pop culture is easily accessible. The crime rates and threat of nuclear annihilation are greatly reduced. I call that a win-win!

I get the gist of what he’s saying. “CEOs want to hire conservatives.” It just really reflects poorly on CEOs.

I know this isn’t the point, but what CEOs hire people? Isn’t that what recruiters and managers are for?

And the podcasts. I definitely remember those being a big staple in my house.

My mom took me to meet him at an event. She thought I was so smart and could grow up to be an apologist like him. I am disappointed in myself in many ways, but I can proudly say I am not an abusive man like he was.

I completely understand why Ravi Zacharias heralded him as a brilliant mind when I was growing up now lol

I think it’s because they’re telling investors they can see the line on financial statements about cost of labor completely disappear and see massive profit margins as a result.

How big a fan of one and five were you?

If they know any Republicans, Trump is a normal one. He’s not shocking like he was to people a decade ago.

Okay, but have you considered that mainline Protestants are possibly too intellectual for much of the country?

I agree. I understand disliking the world ahead, but the people pretending they can return to a better past aren’t fit to lead a leftist or a liberal movement. We have a word for those captured by nostalgia: Conservatives

*whispers* A lot of middle aged and older people want to be left behind. It’s a big problem with the gerontocracy.

And bad economy seems to be “I scared I will be poor.”

Yeah, crime seems to be, “I am scared I could be the victim of a crime.”

I’m not saying universalism is true, but I am also saying that no one could have guessed what Jesus’s first coming actually looked like. Who’s to fully say what His final judgement will be?

The GOP is just a fascist party now. Conservatism is dead. That might make it just a regional party in the south in the long run though

I have no idea, and neither does he lol. It’s all just lies to juice his company’s stock numbers. In reality, it would be quite disastrous, but I guess we’re supposed to believe we’ll all have penthouses thanks to AI like Elon Musk said.

Finally a bet on Kalshi I would make

This is no different than when Trump says the Strait is open to make the stock market numbers go up. He knows that telling investors that payroll will be slashed by a third will make profit margins spike, and they’ll invest more as a result. Just ignore the lies unless you can financially benefit.

The series sold somewhere between 63 and 80 million copies. That certainly helped. You also had people like Hal Lindsey writing about it in his book The Late Great Planet Earth before that. A lot of it was Cold War driven fears about the end of the world.
