Two hooded figures with lamps approach a moonlit, isolated cottage.
A woman answers the door.
We have come for the child, says the hooded figure
So soon? she asks
It is time, says the hooded figure.
The woman is distraught. We should never have got him a library card!
What is done cannot be undone, says the hooded figure
We couldn’t see the harm! We just wanted him to enjoy reading!
For most, it ends there, says the hooded figure, turning away and walking into the wilderness
Oh lord, What have I done! says the woman,
the child walks past her and out into the darkness with them.
Do not cry mother.
I am a writer now.

I had some people round for dinner last night, and I tried to impress them with a sauce created from vodka, gravy and nitrous oxide. But all I've done is make myself an absolut laughing stock.

Title: Hunting for Easter eggs with Werner Herzog

Panel one: Werner goes out looking for eggs saying “I despise this idiotic sanitized ritual, and yet I am unwilling to return home eggless”

Panel two: Werner stands before an egg on the ground “The joy of discovery rings hollow against the monumental indifference of the universe”

Panel three: Werner carries an egg “what, other than regret, can hatch from this empty chocolate vessel”

If you’re using AI to write books, understand that’s not going to somehow get you respect or money like real writers who aren’t using AI to write books because we don’t get respect or money either.

EA Lays Off Staff Across All Battlefield Studios Following Record-Breaking Battlefield 6 Launch - IGN EA is laying off an unknown number of individuals from across its Battlefield teams, including workers at Criterion, Dice, Ripple Effect, and Motive Studios, IGN understands.

After rounds of layoffs at nDreams, Full Circle and now this, it seems like all the execs are trying to make their year-end numbers look a tiny bit bigger.

Hope my old Criterion crew aren't too badly hit by all this. Makers of the most successful game of 2025. :/

🚹 It looks like the UK government is gearing up to upend copyright law in favour of AI companies, legalising the theft of their work.

This is despite creatives' huge protests, and despite previous proposals being roundly rejected by the public.

Please spread the word.

Just watched Drive to Survive ep 3, on the demise of Christian Horner - and there’s not a single mention of the accusations of sexual harassment that caused such a scandal at the time. The edit makes it look like he was fired solely because the cars weren’t winning. It’s a misogynistic whitewash.

Dick Bradsell: lessons learned from an industry icon - The Spirits Business As the 10-year anniversary of Dick Bradsell's death approaches, Mark Jennings reflects on some important lessons he imprinted on hospitality.

Today marks ten years since the death of the legendary Dick Bradsell, inventor of the Espresso Martini and the Bramble, and godfather of our defunct cocktail startup Shaken. Here’s a beautiful tribute written by my old co-founder Mark Jennings: www.thespiritsbusiness.com/2026/02/dick...

I had one of those debates once and thought that I’d won, but hadn’t. I wanted five seconds of black screen after a shock revelation, to let the player stew (before the next scene let them know it was all fine).

When the game came out, those five seconds had been cut “to reduce file size.” Grrr.
