A first for both of us, @alicemeadows.bsky.social! πŸŽ‰ In it, I talk about how ORCID is making it possible to share other types of research outputs relevant to the arts and humanities scholars (like musical compositions, imagery and film, and teaching materials.) info.orcid.org/new-work-typ...

Correct! πŸ˜‰ orcid.org/0000-0003-49...

It landed well at ORCID, I can tell you that – with lots of us!

Relevant to my interests, both as ORCID's Comms Director, and as a metalhead from age 6 when I would sneak into my brother's room and play his Black Sabbath albums. πŸ˜…

The past few days have been rough, as they have been for so many of us. It's more than a 'kind of music I like.' IYKYK.

This helps.

Loved 😍 getting to work with @alicemeadows.bsky.social and the @morebrains.coop folks to explore and explain how @orcid.org complements national, disciplinary, and proprietary researcher identifier systems to extend coverage, foster partnerships, and underpin interoperability. Check it out! ⬇️

Not remotely unreasonable. I'd be annoyed too.

I agree that it's a shame Sen Smith had to chase him down at all, but I wish more of them would do it. Bullies hate confrontation and for all their bluster and aggression a vast majority crumple at the first itty-bitty sign of pushback.

This feels like a good time to remind any military who may find themselves in this mess that "I was just following orders" was never successful as a defense in the Nuremberg Trials.

Make good choices and keep to the oath you swore.

What the heck is #tcteac and how do I get an invite for next year? 🧐

Somewhat related, I heard something at the @scholarlypub.bsky.social meeting last month that I've been thinking about ever since: "Are we measuring what we truly value, or valuing only what we can measure?"

It reads "Our tips: If you are not a researcher yourself, become a trusted individual to be able to see what researchers see and can do, and, Partner with the CRIS team, data stewards, data curators, faculty liaisons, Open Access Team, Human Resources, Library Management, etc. For example, having an ORCID iD is one of the conditions to get funding from the Erasmus Open Access Fund.

From our AMA with community #librarians: tips to support researchers with their ORCID records:

1. You can become a trusted individual to see what they see in their records, and help them optimize for reuse
2. Partner with teams to adopt ORCID across your institution

Picture of the band members from the San Francisco-based thrash metal band, Testament, doing a sound check before a concert. The stage lighting makes everything look purple, and there are streaks of yellow spotlights. From left to right is Alex Skolnick is on guitar, Dave Lombardo on drums, Steve Di Giorgio on bass, Chuck Billy on vocals, and Eric Peterson on guitar.

Throwback to the time I got to hang with Testament during their sound check. 🀩 The second, 'blue' pic is from later during the gig. Such a fun show - it's time for another! @alexskolnick.bsky.social

Not *just* identity though… I’m not saying that you can trust something because of who said it… but it’s harder to trust something when you don’t have a way to connect the dots and filter out deliberate deception.

As a recommendation from @richard.northover.info for #scholarlypublishers: "the more data (and trust markers) added to authors' (and co-authors'!) @orcid.org records, the better." #researchintegrity

@richard.northover.info: Trust exists in a framework of Evidence of Individual Identity and Evidence of Academic Legitimacy. An @orcid.org record with Trust Markers (evidence of data added by trusted third parties) signals a high level of trust. #researchintegrity #papermills #citationrings

Listening to @richard.northover.info in @orcid.org's latest Research Integrity webinar featuring @stmassoc.bsky.social: "Trust in science is built on verifiability." And verifiability is built on identity. βœ… That's where ORCID comes in.
