I agree that it's a shame Sen Smith had to chase him down at all, but I wish more of them would do it. Bullies hate confrontation and for all their bluster and aggression a vast majority crumple at the first itty-bitty sign of pushback.

This feels like a good time to remind any military who may find themselves in this mess that "I was just following orders" was never successful as a defense in the Nuremberg Trials.

Somewhat related, I heard something at the @scholarlypub.bsky.social meeting last month that I've been thinking about ever since: "Are we measuring what we truly value, or valuing only what we can measure?"
