Wow. This documentation is amazing.

Well … you _do_ have all those files and folders.
Are you still managing your @sanity.io content with free tags, flat lists, or hard-coded values? Learn how to install, build, tag with, and query a taxonomy in Sanity Studio in this 20-minute "lightning" talk on getting started with Taxonomy Manager: www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkFR...
How is there no “valve” emoji??
How is AI changing the way we approach Information Architecture, UX, and strategic decision-making?
At #IAC25, we will explore how to ethically and thoughtfully leverage AI and LLMs to enhance your workflow.
Generative AI is good at producing content tagging outputs that "look" right ... but do they meet user goals? And are they any better than what we can already accomplish with less problematic approaches? Here's an experiment that explores those questions.
Too often, well-intentioned taxonomy solutions never fully make it to the systems they're meant to serve. Don't let this be your fate! Here's the process I use to migrate taxonomy drafts in a spreadsheet to the taxonomy management tool in @sanity.io.
The best thing I've seen on Bsky to date. Also, @documentalope.bsky.social, can you confirm that that is/is not @taxobob.bsky.social? (Between the hat, the pony tail, and the ridiculous situation, I have my suspicions)
Taxonomies should be designed with clearly defined goals and use cases, right? Obvious as this is, it's a step many orgs gloss over—with frustratingly mixed outcomes as a result. Here's a process I use for selecting terms, creating structure, and vetting design approaches for taxonomy projects.
Headshot of Andy Fitzgerald next to quote about his positive experience with Poster Night. Applications for poster submissions close January 31st, 2025.

... & when said invader is a CHONK!
Under the hype and hyperbole of "AI" capabilities, I suspect there's a compelling use case for LLMs in making time-tested analysis and classification practices more approachable. Here's an experiment combining LLMs and rules-based text analysis exploring that idea.
Status: Trying to imagine what my reaction would have been if someone had told me in 1995 that in thirty years I’d hear NIN’s “Closer” in my neighborhood healthy pet food store on a Sunday afternoon. Times we live in!
If you work in #UX, #IA, #ContentStrategy, or #ProductDesign and can arrange to be in Philadelphia next May, #IAC25 promises to be packed with ideas, inspiration, and new (and reinvigorated) connections to community and craft. This will be my 15th year attending—and every one has been amazing!

All right. So now that I’ve put down a foundation of “professional” posts to establish that I am indeed a serious-person-of-business™️, it’s time for you all to meet Poppy & Ella. This is still the _internet_, after all:
Hey BlueSky folk! Occasionally after conferences that tickle my brain I write up a synthesis of all the ponderables that stuck with me. Here's one such synthesis of late November's Taxonomy Boot Camp in DC.
Information Architecture and UX friends! The IA Conference in Philadelphia is a mere 154 days from today ... but it's not too late to submit an entry for Poster Night. Of all the many ways to connect with other practitioners, Poster Night is one of my favorite, both as an exhibitor and a spectator:
I switched to Vivaldi a couple of months ago and it's been a breath of fresh air. (Feels a bit like moving from Evernote to Obsidian, actually)
Denizens of Bluesky! Dig my #TaxonomyBootCamp slides over this-a-way: conferences.infotoday.com/documents/45...
As per my usual, they’re much more illustration than transcript, but you will get a peek of the #MathematicalMagicMushroom in action.
A cartoon mushroom with the speech caption, "Large language models aren't te best solution for every problem."
Thanks to everyone who came out to my #TaxonomyBootCamp talk on #OrchestratingTheMundane. Please connect if you're here on the 'sky — Mathematical Magic Mushroom wishes you all a great rest of your conference!
