The Great Betrayal Teme Ring and Susan Blumberg-Kason on how independent bookstores have turned their backs on Jewish authors and readers since October 7.

An absolutely must-read essay—filled with their characteristic blend of sensitivity and smarts—by my friends Teme Ring & @susanbk.bsky.social. judithmagazine.substack.com/p/the-great-...

Jeffries on Kash Patel: "We have to stop putting all the blame on the people who nominated this incompetent, toxic, malignant individual. What about the people who confirmed him? It's extraordinary to me that Senate Republican confirmed people like Noem, Bondi, Hegseth, RFK Jr, and Patel."

also like for example maybe a huge portion of verizons workforce is customer facing sales and they are closing tons of their physical stores (maybe)
just fancying up your website and closing some stores is being cheap, has nothing to do with AI really, but sounds better than 'were losing money'

Become a TPM Member Talking Points Memo (TPM) is an independent news organization that publishes reporting and analysis about American politics, public policy and political culture.

I've been a reader and member of @talkingpointsmemo.com for literally decades and it's one of the most impressive independent media operations in the country. Amazing how long it's been going, producing great reporting and analysis. Indispensable.

I don’t believe AI will cause 30% unemployment in 5 years, and I think it’s stock-juicing horseshit.

Could unemployment jump some, yes. And perpetual 10% would be massively disruptive.

But these grandiose claims must be bullshit. Drinking kool aid meant to juice this bubble

Families are actually pretty cool and important, if one is fortunate enough to find one in whatever form, whether it’s nuclear heterosexual, polyamorous gender non-conforming, or with your group of street racer professional heist operatives.

I've been saying this for a decade now but no, they have zero vetting processes. Donald Trump Jr. in a fake mustache could go to them hat in hand and give his usual anti-Dem spiel but replace every mention of his dad with the world socialism and he would have twelve million dollars in a day.

Was an active part of the lefty effort to help re-elect Trump, benefited from Trump 2.0 and accelerationism + embraced the party long enough to win, and is now back to shitting on the party while showing he’s not particularly smart…And will probably go ham it up with Trump in the oval again soon.

"My audience will not send me death threats if I say good things about AOC, but they will send me death threats if I say good things about Hakeem Jeffries" is in fact a very potent motivator.

Mamdani is not working harder or smiling better than the average Democratic politician. But celebrities like Hank Green feel there is a permission structure where they are allowed to speak positively about him in a way they didn't about Biden, because they view him as a fellow celebrity.

Also because those influencers and their followers were mad that Biden beat the candidate they wanted and refused to let that go.

Most Americans have no idea how badly we’re repeatedly losing—the war we started—to Iran.

Consider Apple News alerts, most legacy Press, all social media outside of this useful shitbox. It’s all tailored to craft an alternate reality that helps Trump look better.

Good morning!

Since Trump was re-elected, Forbes estimates—

💰His net worth is up $2.1 billion, to $6.4 billion

💰Eric’s is up 10x, to $400 million

💰Don Jr.’s is up 6x, to $300 million

💰20-year-old Barron is worth $150 million

And Jared became a billionaire last year.

Have a great day!

Absolutely wild the standard Mills is held to compared to Planter.

Mills has actual record, including challenging Trump to his face.

Platner is a rich boy cos playing as blue collar, with more Nazi tattoos than he has legislative accomplishments, and probably voted for Trump at least once

I'm really tired of a two tiered election system where real candidates have to have real policies and are held to often brutal standards

and clown vibe candidates can be caught in print defending war crimes and saying slurs and refuse to cover it or care.

And MTG isn’t endorsing any Democrats!!! I know I’m reiterating you, but Cheney didn’t form an alliance, she crossed over and endorsed US!!

We continue to chase the anti-Dem left at our peril. How many more polls and elections do we need to see that the anti-Dem left is hurting us just as much (or more?) than a stale and squishy leadership? Both are detested by voters and both are out of touch.

Hmm this is context dependent.

There are liberals in rural red American. And some people in blue cities work in certain industries dominated by Republicans. Liberals/Progressives in these situations will often use the “I don’t get into politics” boundary.

Point of order: all that matters is turning out the vote. Hungary just proved this.

Political actions that matter: doing whatever we can to motivate people to vote.

—We will get distracted, so repeatedly bringing our focus back to this objective, is key.
