Is bluesky still good? It's been over six months and I don't know what's going on in online spaces anymore.

Hey All, it's been a while, just a quick update to say I have a new newsletter out on my patreon for anyone who wants to know what's been going on and what I'm up to with various comic works and art bits! It also comes with a zine to download for paid subscribers! www.patreon.com/posts/quarte...
Until Friday September Fifth, there is a public consultation on the future of the Basic Income for the Arts scheme. I encourage you to make your thought's known. I've only shared my own and one of the few I know also on the scheme, but our stories are not unique. Many of us have dramatically improved artistic output and quality of life. In these uncertain times we want to push for this to continue, to take on a larger cohort. The cost to fund these artists has proven to be neutral to the economy and we all end up spending more if we're not struggling to make ends meet. Continuing would only enrich our lives and keep Ireland's rich artistic history charging forward. Just search "public consultation B I A 2025" or visit the link I post below.
You can access the survey right here ec.europa.eu/eusurvey/run...
Ken: Hey, I'm Ken. Ian: And I'm Ian. We're both in receipt of the B.I.A. (Basic Income For the Arts)
Ken: Our last payment is in February 2026. The future of the scheme is uncertain, but we're here to talk about the past and what we've accomplished these past three years. Ian: Thanks to the B.I.A, I have expanded my skill set and learned 3D sculpting. I bought a 3D printer to make hand painted toys of my own designs.
Ian: I can afford to repair it and spent thousands in the local economy continuing to grow and create. Ken: As for me, I've been self-publishing small books for a while, but I now have the means to release larger books, which also gave me the confidence to run two different crowdfunding campaigns.
Ken: Without it, and after failing to return to animation, I was going to start a career in I.T. I was in a bad place with no hope for the future, but almost overnight, the B.I.A made my long struggling passion into a real livelihood. Nowadays, I can travel for events, sustain car expenses and socialise without managing my spending. In darker times, I was about to pay all the vet bills for my dying cat.
Hello! I've been one of the lucky few on the BIA these last few years, and in light of the uncertainty of its future and potential for public support, I decided to write out this comic with the help of BIA compatriot @ianfay.bsky.social to share our stories. 1/3
ec.europa.eu/eusurvey/run...
The BIA would be a huge help to me this coming year and beyond, so I'd love it to continue as there's a possibility I won't be able to make art at the amount I currently do.
QRT Your oldest art Vs newest!

Fox relaxes on a couch, paws on a very pregnant belly and complains "isn't it about time you got out already?"
Ready to pop 😩 this'll be the last Fox Tales for a while, see you all on the other side ❤️

This is an amazing scheme that has had huge benefit to many artists I know by removing the fear of absolute poverty from their lives.
We all love art on a daily basis, so a little public support for them in this guise benefits everyone. I urge you to complete this form!
The Ick, a huge, ceiling-height, purple-furred monster with horns and a mouth full of razor teeth, and also Orla Bard's blonde hair, looms over a screaming man.
Orla Bard has a monster inside her. She seeks out the worst men in the dating pool, and if they push her too far… they get fed to The Ick.
Art by @sallycantirino.bsky.social, colours by @dearbhlala.bsky.social, letters by @letteringbear.bsky.social. ORLA! #1, out now from @madcavestudios.com!
Support artists! But also use the box at the end of the survey to advocate for good-life sustaining Basic Income to be extended to disabled people next, and UBI for everyone after that!
There’s a public survey open for the general public to give input as to whether the Basic Income for the Arts scheme should continue.
I implore you to take the 2 mins to fill out this survey and call for the BIA scheme to be continued and further developed.

Irish artists/ supporters of the arts, please check out and fill in this short survey. The Gript/ far right dudes are already sharing it on X and I'd be worried it'll get brigaded.
If we want it to be retained and expanded we gotta drown them out.

Help me raise at least £1000 for the Bumblebee Conservation Trust by donating to my campaign to draw 1000+ bumblebees in as short of time as I can (around 3 hours)
If more than £1000 is raised, I'll draw #bees to match the amount.

Barely an hour ago, Palestinian journalist Anas Al-Sharif warned us all:
“If this madness doesn’t end, Gaza will be reduced to ruins, its people’s voices silenced, their faces erased — and history will remember you as silent witnesses to a genocide you chose not to stop.”
Israel just killed him.
corporations being able to control what kind of art we're allowed to see on the internet is bad
A four panel comic. Panel 1, fox and bear stand by an open car boot full of shopping. Fox who is very pregnant asks "can I help?" In panel 2 Bear looks at Fox silently. I. Panel 3 bear smiles and hands fox a receipt saying " here, you can carry this. It's extra heavy so be careful." In panel 4 they head towards their house, fox carries the receipt while bear lugs about six heavy bags of shopping in one load.
This baby is staying cosy so have another comic

My next project has been delayed for the foreseeable so if you’ve ever wanted to support my ko-fi now would be an amazing time! ✨ I update weekly on Fridays and there’s at least 2 years of behind the scenes peeks of my next book! I’ll be doing a give-away in August for members! ko-fi.com/taraocomics
This is a brilliant text. Mandatory reading to all "cooks" put there! 🙃 #iykyk

Today is the fourth birthday of this project. It has been one of my favourite things I’ve ever done and having regular financial support has changed my life for the better. Thanks to everyone who has supported it.
Purgatory Volume 2 is now available to purchase! It's a bit chunkier than the previous volume, having also included the daily run on my Toronto trip and hourly comic day 2024. ko-fi.com/s/0f0b493e2f
One month being off is whatever, I figure after 3 in a row and a downward trend I should say something!
I’d like Little Deer to be here next summer. If you would also like that consider shopping with us! And bringing others to shop with us! Tell friends and strangers about
