Tiny Wins The big benefits of little changes.

"A lot of people assumed it was their own fault for not just “getting” it."

It's hard to find many major cracks in what you might think is smooth DX for just this reason. This is why honest friction logs over high traffic user flows are so valuable!

My internal math hobbyist and philosopher balks every time I see unbounded Flink tables referred to as “infinite”, but I’ll let y’all have it as a loanword

I would still be wondering about call home software tbh… keeping the PII and API keys etc out of any prompt no matter the model or setup is always a good rule

This is a screenshot from the ATProto docs. No leading $, no newline business that gets messed up when I copy this over to the terminal. Might seem trivial, but the seconds it takes to get to a locally running an app so devs can follow along the tutorial are critical. The fewer, the better.

I can tell when it's been microwaved... 😒

There are still good ones out there. You have to be willing to cut some losses while you try new restaurants.

Thanks for the write up, Maggie! Spent the weekend moving house but if I get a spare moment to myself this week I plan to crack my knuckles and give DeepSeek a spin on my personal laptop… probably some side project with ATProto

been reading a lot of comments today about how people find man pages hard to read and it made me mad (why do they have to be so hard!)

so I'm giving away 300 copies of Bite Size Command Line to folks for whom $12 is a lot of money! (with code BUYONEGIVEONE)

Bsky looks like X but could just as easily been an old school forum. It’s all in the ATProtocol and positions bsky for an increasingly fractionated social media landscape. Read up: arxiv.org/html/2402.03... and bsky.social/about/blog/5...

Yes I don’t understand this at all! Especially since internal contributions at a dev’s current company are often hidden, plus you can just hack your green squares to look like whatever you want
