I was just told that I have to remove “climate” from the title of an ongoing grant if I want to keep it. And publications from that grant cannot include “climate” and other forbidden words. I can’t believe I’m writing this from the United States of America. #AcademicSky

I think this is partly due to the divorce that has happen in the real silicon valley... namely it is not about semiconductors anymore, just really about software. focus on use of silicon not actually producing it.

This is good news for the environment. To make progress we need to distinguish between the consumerist economy and the reuse/repair economy. The former needs to shrink while the latter grows if we want to both preserve nature and our material wealth.
